RACE 1

MORE THAN A DREAM has produced three fair efforts since relocating to the Eastern Cape. She was slow into stride over 1200m and stayed on at the finish. She will enjoy the extra 100m on offer and from a good draw of three, she may be the one to side with.

BURN BABY BURN raced from a handy position over 1400m on this course last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Amazing Colours. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

HEARTLIGHT should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was bumped at the 500m mark. She will enjoy the rise to 1300m and S’manga Khumalo may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

RACE 2

FUJISAN may not have enjoyed the fitting of the cheekpieces last time and the headgear has been quickly removed. His penultimate run when fourth over 1200m on this course was encouraging. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to the mile. If putting his best foot forward, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

BOB LEE SWAGGER’S last three starts have been fair. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he will love the rise to the mile. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BIG FIVE finished 0.05 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RACE 3

GIDEON’S DAUGHTER was unlucky not to have won her last start as she was held up for a run from the 150m mark to the finish. She finished 1.25 lengths behind SKY VELOCITY that day and is 1kg better off at the weights. The daughter of Skitt Skizzle will be at home over the 1900m and with a bit of luck in running, she should take a power of beating.

SKY VELOCITY raced from a handy position last time and fought hard all the way to the line. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and she is one of the leading contenders.

FIRE GLOW has produced two good efforts since returning from a 10-week break. She runs well for jockey Muzi Yeni and from her good draw of three, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

RACE 4

DOWNING SEVEN was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The son of William Longsword is in a good space and can follow up.

HEARTSEASE raced from a handy position over 2000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Wildest Dreams. She has won once, finished second three times and third twice from seven starts over this distance. She has dropped to a competitive rating and should give the males a run for their money.

ST CLOUD received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on nicely at the finish. It must be noted that Opera Swing has come out and won again since. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 5

RAISING QUINN was not beaten far in her last start over 1400m on this course, against male company. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Her last victory came over this C&D. She jumps from pole position and with JP van der Merwe in the saddle, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

OFFICIAL SECRET ran on well when winning her last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

TRIP TO BARBERTON is better than her last start over 1900m. It must be noted that Opera Swing has come out and won again since. On her previous form, she should run into the money.

Race 6

IDITA set her own fractions up front over this C&D last time, but was touched off by Easy Living. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. From pole position, she may be hard to peg back.

PUBLIC BENEFIT is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type Cape Racing Sales The Ready To Run Stakes. She has won once and finished second once from three starts on this course. Muzi Yeni steps back into the saddle and the combination should be competitive.

JOY AND PEACE was disappointing in her last start over this distance on the turf. She has finished third in both her attempts on this course. She is having her peak run today and improvement is expected.

RACE 7

MIA REGINA ran a good race when 2.25 lengths behind Angelsea last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

WINTER JOURNEY finished 2.35 lengths behind ANGELSEA in the race referred to above. She is also 2.5kgs better off at the weights. The daughter of What A Winter will be mowing down the frontrunners.

ANGELSEA was running on when second over 1300m last time. She won her penultimate start over this C&D. She is in a good space and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 8

COASTAL PATH fought hard for his last victory over this distance on the turf. He has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this C&D. If this run has not come too soon, he can follow up.

JOYOUS JUBILEE ran a fair race over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He finished 3.25 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate start. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

PERSISTANCE has improved since relocating to the Eastern Cape. His awkward draw of nine is an obvious concern but with luck in running, he can earn another cheque for his patrons
