Race 1

THE OCTAGON produced a decent debut effort over 1160m on the Standside course. He was green in running, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He returns from a 15-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. The son of Ideal World will love the rise to 1450m and if not in need of the outing, he should be the one to beat.

MARY’S GREENLIGHT was a beaten odds-on favourite in her last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1450m. She is drawn well in barrier four and should give the males a run for their money.

TRIP TO STATES‘ last two starts have been fair. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 2

LADY CRUSADE ran a good race when third in her comeback run over 1160m on the Standside course. She would have come on from the run and should love the rise to 1450m. The daughter of Crusade will strip much fitter and from pole position, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

ALESIA’S LOVE’S last three starts have been good. She set the pace over this C&D last time, but was outrun late by Gimme A Nother. She is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

MORE THAN ALL ran a decent race on debut over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She returns from a 15-week break, during which time she changed stables. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 3

AZALEAS FOR ALL challenged strongly in her last start over 1800m at the Vaal, but found one too good in the form of Solo Diva. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 2600m. She carries a handy galloping mass of 52.5kgs and should give the males a run for their money.

EXHALE stayed on at the finish over 2000m last time, but found one too good in the form of Kudzu. He tries the 2600m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should pose a threat. He is carded to race on 07 November 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

HAROLD THE DUKE ran a fair race over 1800m last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He should be at peak fitness and must be included in all bets. He is carded to race on 07 November 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 4

NAMAQUA BLOSSOM was slow into stride over 2400m on the Vaal Classic course last time, but finished her race off strongly. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

IDEAL FUTURE was an easy winner of her last start over 2400m at the Vaal. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. She is carded to race on 02 November 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

KIND JUDY finished 0.5 lengths behind BURMESE TIARA last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 5

MILLAHUE finished 0.8 lengths behind TWIN TURBO last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena rides on his return and if not in need of the run, he can notch up his fifth-career victory.

TWIN TURBO set his own fractions up front over this C&D last time and found more to draw clear of the opposition. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.

TOTAL SURRENDER finished 2.2 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. His best form has been under Craig Zackey and he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

CLIFF HANGER showed good speed and fought back well to win his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He is well-weighted and should be at peak fitness. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

RULERSHIP is having his first run for the Tony Peter stable. He has won three times, finished second twice and third twice from ten starts over this distance. If settled into his new surroundings, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TCHAIKOVSKY is having his first run for the Tyrone Zackey stable. Three of his four career victories have come over this distance. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he should run a positive race.

Race 7

DOLCEZZA ran a fair race in a Graduation Plate over this C&D last time. She was reported to have choked up that day. The daughter of Erupt is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She has class about her and from her good draw of two, she can return to winning ways.

KEY ELEMENT won a game race in her last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. She won her only attempt over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

KWAZZI’S LADY is a winner of her last four starts. She returns from a well-deserved 14-week break. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. If not in need of the run, she should run a big race.

Race 8

WILLOW EXPRESS showed some signs of a form return in his last start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts on this course. He should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and may be the one to side with in this line-up. He is carded to race on 07 November 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

BLACK LIGHTNING is better than his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. On his previous form, he should pose a threat.

VESUVIO finished 2.8 lengths behind PLAYER last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned

Race 9

GIMME A NOTHER won a good race on debut over 1450m on this course. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and won going away. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight should love the rise to the mile. She does take on stronger, but could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

QUE CEU AZUL has shown signs of needing her last two starts. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She takes a drop in class and on best form shown, she can feature.

MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL is better than her recent form suggests. Two of her four career victories have come on this course. She is carded to race on 02 November 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored
