RACE 1
BRIDGERTON was a tad disappointing when taking on winners in his last start over 1200m on the turf. His debut effort when third catches the eye. The son of Visionaire returns from a 10-week break, during which time he was gelded. He tries the blinkers and pacifiers which may do the trick. If not in need of the run, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
SWIFTWINGED ran a fair race in her last start over 1000m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Alado tries the 1300m and she may have more to come under Richard Fourie.
MANCHESTER FIGHTER showed improvement in his last start over this C&D and is having his first run for Sharon Kotzen. The blinkers remain fitted and he can feature in this line-up.
RACE 2
SHORT SHARP SHOCK ran a good race when second over 1200m on this course, three weeks ago. She raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Siberian Fox. The daughter of Greys Inn jumps from a mid-field draw of five and in this field, she is the horse to beat.
MAYA‘S CAT finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
MAKAHA BEACH finished 3.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter.
RACE 3
GOLDEN PACIFIC showed good improvement in her last start over 1000m on this course. She was green in running, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1300m. She will strip much fitter and in this type of field, she can go one better.
RED LOVE‘S last three starts have been fair. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in her last outing has come out and won since. She has scope and from a handy draw of two, she is one of the leading contenders.
MAGENTA ran a good race when second in male company over this C&D last time. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she hung in the closing stages. If confirming her recent improvement, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
RACE 4
MINGSHI finished 1.25 lengths behind ESSOS last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has cracked a good draw of two and if confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.
ESSOS kept finding all the way to the line when winning his last start over this C&D. He received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. The 5yo gelding is in a good space and from pole position, can follow up.
ALADO‘S PRIDE is the stable companion of the second choice. He ran a good race when taking on stronger over 1600m on this course last time. He drops in class and if repeating his last effort, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
RACE 5
GET IT DONE won a game race in her last start over 1600m on this course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Ideal World has won over this distance in the past. She jumps from another good draw of four and against similar company, she can follow up.
HEY SIRI stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. She won a good race in her penultimate start over 2000m. The daughter of Ideal World may be at her best on the turf, but she is in a good space and will be staying on at the business end.
OPERA SWING was slow into stride over 1600m last time, but ran on strongly to finish third. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners at the business end.
Race 6
MOON GAME showed signs of a form return in his last start over 1600m on this course. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the business end. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He takes a drop-in class this afternoon and from his handy five draw, he can return to winning ways.
ACORN is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Fairview 1400. His two previous outings on this course were encouraging. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
EUROPEAN SUMMER has decent recent form lines to her name. She was not disgraced when third in the Listed Milkwood Stakes last time. She tries the 1400m this afternoon and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she should give the males a run for their money.
RACE 7
DREAM SCAPE may not have seen out the mile in her last start on this course. She moved up to a point, but did not go on with the effort. Her penultimate run when second over 1200m catches the eye. The 1400m should be right up her alley. She is drawn in barrier one and if jumping on terms, she can notch up her second-career victory.
DEFINITELY MAYBE was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
LADY MISTICO raced from a handy position last time, moved up but was outrun late. She returns from a 12-week break and if not in need of the run, she should be competitive with Richard Fourie retaining the ride.
RACE 8
This is a competitive Merit Rated 70 Handicap and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is EL ROMIACHI from the Zietsman Oosthuizen yard. He set the pace over 1600m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Secret Is Ours. He has won once and finished third twice from five starts over this C&D. He drops back in class and from pole position, may be the one to side with.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN was slow into stride over 1000m last time, but stayed on to finish third. He is drawn wide, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
PEDRO won a good race over 1300m on this course last time. He received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can follow up
