RACE 1

HAPPY HOLLY produced a promising debut effort over 800m on this course. She showed good speed and should have won that day as she raced green and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. The daughter of Heavenly Blue found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

SERENDIPITOUS finished 3.75 lengths behind the top choice on debut. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

MAGICAL RIVER finished 5.75 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights which is not enough for the tables to be turned, but she should finish closer.

RACE 2

MASTER OF DEFENSE set the pace over this C&D last time, but was touched off by Give Us A Smile. Luyolo Mxothwa is likely to adopt the same tactics from the wide draw and if repeating that outing, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

REGAZZO GRANDE finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

MENTALITY MONSTER returns from an 11-week break and is having his first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable. The son of New Predator is a progressive type and is the stable elect with Muzi Yeni in the saddle. From pole position, there should be improvement to come.

RACE 3

UBISIKA was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He was slow into stride, but showed a good turn of foot and got up where it matters most. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of What A Winter meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.

PATH OF CHOICE was an easy winner of his last start over 1600m on the Polytrack. He finished 0.35 lengths behind the top choice, three runs ago. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights but there should not be much separating them at the finish.

TIMBAVATI RIVER is better than his last start against stronger company. On his previous form, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

LUNA HALO was unlucky not to have won the Listed Lady’s Bracelet as the saddle slipped in running. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She has won three times and finished second once from as many starts on this course. The daughter of Fire Away is the class horse in this race and she should take a power of beating.

PUBLIC BENEFIT finished 3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and she should finish closer as a result.

IDITA was an easy winner of the Non-Black Type Aloe Handicap. She raced from a handy position, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

BOURNEMOUTH is better than his last start over 1900m on the Polytrack. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts on this course. His last victory came over this C&D and he won by 7.25 lengths that day. The son of Canford Cliffs has no stamina issues and if putting his best foot forward, he should notch up his sixth-career victory.

GALLIC TRIBE has finished third in his last three starts. He was slow into stride last time, but finished off his race well. The 6yo gelding should have no issues with the 2400m and he is one of the leading contenders.

COSMIC EVENT hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He was a tad disappointing in his last start over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and if all went well with his travels, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

SACHDEV is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Ridgemont Peninsula Handicap. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He won a game race in his penultimate start over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He has cracked a good draw of four and on best form shown, he should be the one to beat.

PERFECTION won a good race in the Non-Black Type Founders Trophy. He has won four times and finished second once from seven starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BUSH TRACKER finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

RACE 7

KHAYA’S HOPE is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was the Non-Black Type November Stakes. He has won twice, finished second once and third three times from six starts over this C&D. He returns from a 10-week break, which would have done him the world of good. Craig Zackey returns to the saddle and he can notch up the hat-trick.

CRUISE CONTROL is the stable companion of the top choice. He finished 2.5 lengths behind KHAYA’S HOPE in his penultimate run. He is 6kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

INHERIT THE RAIN stayed on when third over this distance on the Polytrack last time. He has won once and finished third three times from six starts over this C&D. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and cannot be ignored.

RACE 8

JOYOUS JUBILEE ran a fair race in his last start over this distance on the Polytrack. His penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging. Raymond Danielson steps back into the saddle and he may be rewarded for consistency. FIERY DUKE finished 0.75 lengths behind GREAT TIMES last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The 5yo gelding will be staying on at the business end.

GREAT TIMES is better than his last start over 1000m on this course. Both his career victories have come over this distance. Robert Khathi steps back into the saddle and he can show
