RACE 1

PEACE FROG showed very good improvement in her stable debut over 1200m on this course. She set the pace that day, but found one too good in the form of Stage Play. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the daughter of Horizon. She should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and can go one better.

THE LADY LOVE was a tad disappointing in her last start over this C&D. She was slow into stride and took no interest in running. Her debut effort when third over this distance on the turf catches the eye. If finding the form of that run, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

SWIFTWINGED has improved in her last three starts in the Eastern Cape. She set the pace over 1300m last time, but was caught late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She drops to the 1000m and must be included in all bets.

RACE 2

This is a weak Open Maiden field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is HOLLYWOOD STAR from the Gavin Smith stable. His last two starts over this distance have been fair, despite reported to be coughing post race. The son of Flying The Flag carries a handy galloping mass of 55.5kgs and Luyolo Mxothwa may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MIRACULOUS MAN finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 4.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

WESTERN JACK is better than his last start over this C&D. His penultimate run when second over this distance on the turf was encouraging. If putting his best foot forward, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

RACE 3

AMERICAN DAZZLER showed good signs of a form return in his last start over this C&D. He was slow into stride, but managed to get into a handy position and he stayed on to finish third. He jumps from a mid-field draw of five and if getting away to a clean start, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

FIERY CLIFFS is a filly taking on the males. She ran on in her last start over this C&D, fought hard but was touched off by Ghalaati. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and she should pose a massive threat to the top choice.

TWICE A SAINT ran a good race when second over 1900m on this course, on Monday. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the business end. The son of Twice Over jumps from pole position and if this run has not come too soon, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

GREEN FALCON has produced two good runs since winning his maiden over this C&D. He stayed on at the finish last time, but found one too good in the form of Silvery Blue. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If jumping on terms, he should return to winning ways.

WIND SOCK ran a good race when second over 1400m on this course last time. He was awkwardly placed when leaving the start, but fought hard all the way to the line. His record over this distance is a slight concern, but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

SAINT ANASTASIA ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick on the daughter of Master Of My Fate. She jumps from a good draw of three and should give the males a run for their money.

RACE 5

XPLICIT CONTENT followed up his maiden victory with a good fourth-place finish over 1200m on this course. He set the pace that day and stayed on at the business end. The son of Vercingetorix will enjoy the drop to 1000m and he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

MISS ROSE was a tad disappointing in her last start. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this C&D. It is encouraging that Luyolo Mxothwa steps back into the saddle. From pole position, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

CALLMEMRGREENLIGHT‘S last two starts have been good. The drop to the 1000m is an obvious concern, but he is in a good space and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 6

BAUBLES AND BEADS has shown improvement in her last two starts since arriving in the Eastern Cape. She was not disgraced when third over 1200m on the turf last time, against stronger. The daughter of Rafeef returns from an 11-week break which may have done her the world of good. She takes a drop-in class and if not in need of the run, she may be the one to beat.

VARIETY BREEZE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice, finished second three times and third twice from nine starts over this C&D. She takes a drop-in class and is one of the leading contenders.

THREE ROCKS followed up her maiden win with an impressive victory over this distance on the turf. The daughter of Heavenly Blue takes another step up in class, but she looks to be above average and can notch up the hat-trick.

RACE 7

Trainer Alan Greeff saddles half of the runners in this contest and he holds a strong hand. WILDEST DREAMS finished 1.25 lengths behind DEFINITELY MAYBE last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. The daughter of Dynasty carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and may be hard to peg back.

MEDLERS TART took on male company in her last start over this distance on the turf. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the outing and if suited to this surface, she should pose a massive threat.

DEFINITELY MAYBE won a good race in her last start over 1900m on this course. She lost a length at the start, but raced from a handy position and rallied late. Kendall Minnie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.

RACE 8

EYJAFJALLAJOKULL showed good signs of a form return in his local debut over this C&D. He brushed the inside running rail that day, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was eye-catching. The son of Erupt would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He takes a drop-in class and with a bit of luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

CRUZADOR stayed on when fourth over 1200m on this course, six weeks ago. It must be noted that Slim Jannie has come out and won again since. The son of Crusade is better suited to shorter, but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

CAITLYNS BOY finished 0.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result

RACE 9

UNYIELDING ran an encouraging race in her local debut over this C&D. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Flower Alley was reported to be coughing. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. Stable jockey Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and from her good draw of four, she may be the one to side with.

GRUE OF ICE ran a decent race when fifth over 1000m on the turf last time. She won a game race in her penultimate run over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BADRAH ran a good race when third over 1400m last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The drop to 1200m is a slight concern, but she is in a good space and can earn another cheque.
