The pair of Hekkie Strydom and 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Philasande Mxoli closed off the meeting on Friday and will be looking to continue where they left off. GLITTERFOX showed good improvement in her first effort with the blinkers fitted. She was reported to be distressed post race. She receives her sex allowance and back over the 1300m, she may be hard to peg back.
Race 2: CAPTAINS WALK (1)

CAPTAINS WALK set the pace in his last start over 1200m, but was outrun late. He was reported to have spread a shoe in running that day. The blinkers and tongue-tie seem to have done the trick. He meets the right field this afternoon and from his handy draw of four, he may be hard to peg back.
Race 3: REGIMENTAL (3)
Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: A Greeff
REGIMENTAL lost a length at the start over 1000m last time, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He finished 0.6 lengths behind PLEASEDTOMEETYOU, three runs ago. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Four of his seven career victories have come on this course and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

Jockey: G Cheyne – Trainer: A Greeff
GOLIGHTLY is the best bet on the programme. She was super-impressive when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. The manner in which she quickened up and drew clear of the opposition was eye- catching. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She does take a rise in class, but may still be ahead of the handicapper and can notch up her sixth career victory.

Jockey: S Khathi – Trainer: S Kotzen
ALPHA PAPPA showed very good signs of a form return in his last start over 1000m on this course. He showed good pace, but found one too good in the form of Inherit The Rain. The 5yo gelding won his only attempt over this C&D. Sandile Khathi retains the ride and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be the horse to beat
