Top Bet For Today

Race 1: LADY OF POWER (5)
Jockey: J P V.d Merwe – Trainer: B Botes

LADY OF POWER produced a promising debut effort over 1100m on this course. She understandably raced green, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and will enjoy the extra 100m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the horse to beat.

Race 2: FORT LAUDERDALE (4)
Jockey: D De Gouveira – Trainer: B Botes

FORT LAUDERDALE ran a good race on debut over 1000m on the Classic course. He lost a length at the start, but finished his race off nicely. The son of The United States would have gained from the experience and over the extra furlong, he is capable of going one better.

Race 3: JOHNNY DOGS (6)
Jockey: V.D.Merwe J – Trainer: Klaasen R

JOHNNY DOGS stayed on nicely when finishing third on debut over 1200m on this course. The son of Twice Over would have gained from the experience and he is bred to enjoy the extra furlong on offer. He meets the right field this afternoon and should be the horse to beat.

Race 6: SPIELBERG (8)
Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: P Peter

SPIELBERG produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He was reported to be lame on his right front leg that day. The son of Futura found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. Warren Kennedy retains the ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

Value Bet For Today

Race 8: SAMOA (5)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: B Stidolph

SAMOA finished 1.3 lengths behind LOVE BITE last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and she can return to winning ways
