Race 1

MISS DORA rallied late when second over 1000m on this course last time. She has finished second once and third twice from four starts over this C&D. The daughter of Pomodoro jumps from pole position and in this line-up, she can go one better.

VARIETY FAIR stayed on when second over 1000m on this course last time. She should have finished closer that day as she hung in the closing stages. The daughter of Var is back against her own sex and she is one of the leading contenders.

TEPHRA is an unraced daughter of Erupt from the Alyson Wright stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. She is related to six-time winner Winter Flight. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

Race 2

LADY HEIST showed good speed in her last start over this C&D, but was caught late by Acacia’s Blossom who has come out and won again since. The daughter of Time Thief meets a similar line-up this afternoon and she can notch up her third career victory.

PELARGONIUM finished 0.2 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. With luck in running, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

KINGSMEADS KRYSTL lost two lengths leaving the start last time, but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. If jumping on terms, she should go close to winning.

Race 3

KILEIGH’S FATE should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be steadied at the 1200m mark and 150m mark. However, the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She will strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and with Rachel Venniker back in the saddle, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

QUEEN MERCURY stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. She returns from a 17-week break which may have done her the world of good. If not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

GLOBAL SECRET has fair recent form lines to her credit. She was reported to be not striding out in her last start against male company. Apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa takes the 2.5kgs off her back and on best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

EVENTIDOR stayed on when fifth over 2400m on the turf last time. He has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and with the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa, he is capable of returning to winning ways.

THUNDER MASALA has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He stayed when third over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HIGH VELOCITY is better than his last start as he received a bump leaving the start and was reported to be coughing. The son of Elusive Fort tries the 1900m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should fight out the finish.

Race 5

STRAIGHT UP finished 0.3 lengths behind SYX HOTFIX last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won three times from four starts over this C&D. The 6yo gelding is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

SYX HOTFIX is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 2000m on this course. He does take a rise in class, but has the ability to notch up the hat-trick.

AQUAE SULIS is the stable companion of the top choice. She was not disgraced when third in the Listed Michael Roberts Stakes last time. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 6

MAJESTIC POWER won a very game race in his last start over this C&D, despite the jockey dropping his reins in the closing stages. The son of Just As Well received a two-pound penalty for that victory. He jumps from pole position and against similar opposition, he can follow up.

AFROPOLITAN followed up his maiden win with a good victory over 2000m on this course. He received a four-pound penalty for that win. The son of Master Of My Fate makes his stable debut. He is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.

JUSTFORTHEEPENNY lost three lengths leaving the start last time, but finished off his race nicely. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53kgs and if jumping on terms, he should have a say.

Race 7

DANSE MILORD stumbled leaving the start last time, but found herself in front turning for home before getting outrun late. It must be noted that Sleek As Silk has come out and won again since. She won a good race in her penultimate effort over this C&D. The daughter of Coup De Grace takes a drop in class and she can get back to winning ways.

QUANABI’S last two starts have been fair. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to the mile. The daughter of Querari must be included in all bets.

SHAKEN NOT STIRRED stayed on when second over this C&D last time. She cast a shoe in running that day. She finished 0.25 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the tables around.

Race 8

WILLIAM RUFUS won a good race in his local debut over this C&D. He set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The son of William Longsword received a three-pound penalty for that victory. He meets a similar type of field today and should follow up.

PARMENION’S last three starts have been decent. He has won once and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces. GENTLEMAN’S

WAY rallied late when third over this C&D last time. He finished 1.2 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. However, WILLIAM RUFUS won easier than the official margin suggests and he may still have the upper hand
