Race 1

WARRIOR OF ROYALTY produced a promising debut effort over 1100m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He moved up like a winner, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Cliff Hanger. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Pathfork found plenty of betting support which suggests that he was showing good work at home. If not too green around the turn and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

UBISIKA finished 2.4 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

RAILROAD showed good improvement in his last start with the blinkers fitted. He finished 4.65 lengths behind the top selection in his penultimate run. He has the experience of racing on this course and cannot be ignored

Race 2

MAJESTIC REIGN raced from a handy position over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, moved up but was outrun late by Gold Index. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from pole position once again and in this line-up, he should go one better.

MISTER LINCOLN finished 1.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result. He is a progressive type and with luck, should be involved in the fight to the finish.

GOLDEN PEACE was in need of his debut effort over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He returns from a 14-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of the run, he is capable of finishing in the placings.

Race 3

DONTSTOPMENOW has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced from a handy position over this distance on the polytrack last time and stayed on to finish second. The son of Gimmethegreenlight may be at his best on the turf and can go one better from his good draw of four.

GIMME GORGEOUS set the pace over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time and fought hard all the way to the line. He is having his first run on this course and if suited, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

JOHNNY‘S HOPE finished 0.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. He is having his first run for the Peter Muscutt stable and if settled into his new surroundings, he should be competitive.

Race 4

This is a competitive Merit Rated 92 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is LUCKY MISS from the Duncan Howells stable. The daughter of What A Winter has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second three times and third twice from seven starts over this distance. She carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and may be rewarded for consistency.

MEET AT THE GEORGE finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

MACARA was not disgraced when third in the Non-Black Type Fever Tree Stakes last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck from her wide barrier position, she should earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 5

VASEEM is better than his last start in the Grade 3 WSB Tommy Hotspur Stakes. He has won four times, finished second once and third once from nine starts over this distance. He is having his first run for the Paul Lafferty stable. He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and may be hard to peg back.

SPYDAS CORNER should have finished closer last time as he hung in the final 200m and cast a shoe in running. It must be noted that Captain Fontane has come out and won again since. He carries a handy galloping mass of 53.5kgs and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PEARL OF ASIA has shown signs of a form return in his last two starts. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from nine starts over this C&D. Serino Moodley steps back into the saddle and if fit, he should have a say.

Race 6

AMARANDI finished 0.05 lengths behind CALULO last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. The daughter of What A Winter is likely to race on the speed and can notch up her third career victory.

SABATINI was unlucky last time as the saddle was reported to have slipped in running. She finished 3.25 lengths behind CALULO in the race referred to above. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and should also turn the form around.

CALULO was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won twice and finished third once from four starts over this C&D. Rachel Venniker steps back into the saddle and she can notch up the hat-trick.

Race 7

COVERT OPERATOR hails from the visiting Johan Janse van Vuuren stable. He ran a fair race when fourth in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He has won twice and finished third once from six starts over this distance. The son of Coup De Grace is in a good space and if all went well with his travels, he should notch up his third career victory.

ONE TOO MANY finished 0.95 lengths behind SLIM JANNIE last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D and is one of the leading contenders.

SLIM JANNIE lacked extra late over 1200m last time. He is at his best over this distance and with Rachel Venniker back in the saddle, he should go close to winning.

Race 8

CHELSEA FLOWER was unlucky not to have won her last start as she had to be switched for running room at the 350m mark. It must be noted that Sleek As Silk has come out and won again since. The daughter of Flower Alley takes a slight drop in class and with a bit of luck in running, she can return to winning ways.

MEL‘S PRINCESS is the stable companion of the top choice. Her last three starts have been good. She has cracked a good draw of two and is a solid back up for the Hewitson yard.

BELL STARBUSTER stayed on nicely when third over 1600m on the polytrack last time. She is in a good space and it is encouraging that Keagan de Melo steps into the saddle. From pole position, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
