Race 1

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is TASTE MAKER from the Duncan Howells stable. She ran a decent race when third over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She is likely to have her own way in front and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, she may be the one to side with.

CAPE PRINCESS had excuses in her last start over this C&D. Her penultimate run when finishing second on the turf was encouraging. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Malesela Katjedi and is one of the leading contenders.

MIA SOPHIA has fair recent form lines to her name. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she had to be eased at the 350m mark and 200m mark. The daughter of Wylie Hall will be cherry-ripe and Richard Fourie may be able to get the best out of her.

Race 2

AGRESSIVO showed some improvement in his last start over 1200m on the turf with the blinkers fitted. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1400m. The son of What A Winter is a progressive type and in this line-up, he should be the horse to beat.

CAPTAINS WALK returns to KZN and brings decent Eastern Cape form lines with him. If all went well with his travels, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

CARAMEL FUDGE is an unraced son of Quasillo from the Garth Puller yard with Ashton Arries in the saddle. He is related to five-time winner Moon Game. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 3

OCTOBER SUN produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on the turf. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Erupt would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

ALLAROUNDTHEWORLD cost himself winning last time as he hung and came into the straight in a wide position. The son of Oasis Dream is in a good space and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

GERONIMO was his own worst enemy last time as he overraced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. If Richard Fourie is able to switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

WITH PLEASURE is better than his last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He won a good race in his penultimate run over 1950m. The 4yo gelding finished second in his only attempt over this distance. He is back on the Polytrack and from pole position, he may be the one to beat.

HIGH MOON has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last start has come out and won since. The son of Silvano is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

PEWTER SKY’S last two starts on this course have been good. It must be noted that the form of his last race has been franked. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and he should run a big race.

Race 5

LUCRETIUS should have won his last start as he hung and shifted away from the crop in the closing stages. The cheekpieces have done the trick on the son of Eightfold Path and if Cole Dicken is able to keep him on a straight line, he can notch up his fourth career victory.

TEICHMAN held on where it matters most when winning his last start over 1600m on the turf. He received the minimum two-pound penalty for that victory. From pole position, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

CAESURA has fair recent form lines to his name. He raced wide around the turn last time, but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. He jumps from a handy draw of three and must be included in all bets.

Race 6

VALIENTE finished 0.85 lengths behind IRON BARK last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished 0.8 lengths behind ONE TOO MANY in his penultimate run. He is 1.5kgs better off and should turn the form around. With a bit of luck in running, he can return to winning ways.

ONE TOO MANY has won his last two starts well over this C&D. He shows good speed in his races and can notch up the hat-trick.

IRON BARK won a good race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The blinkers have done the trick on the son of Flower Alley and he can follow up.

Race 7

IT’S ABOUT TIME has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this distance. The son of Oratorio is having his first run for the Louis Goosen yard and if settled into his new surroundings, he should be rewarded for consistency.

WINTER FLIGHT has good recent form lines to his name. He has won three times and finished third three times from nine starts on this course. He is having his first run for Kumaran Naidoo and merits obvious inclusion.

SPYDAS CORNER is better than his recent form suggests. He returns from a 14- week break which would have done him the world of good. He gets the blinkers re-fitted and if not in need of the run, he can go close to winning.

Race 8

KITTEN’S ADVENTURE’S last two starts on this course have been good. It must be noted that both the second and third place finishers in her last start have come out and won since. She has dropped to a competitive rating and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she is capable of notching up her second career victory. MVULAZANA ran a fair race in her last start against stronger company. She takes a drop in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

WINTER JOURNEY ran a decent race in her last start over 1400m on this course. She has won once, finished second twice and third four times from twelve starts over this distance. The blinkers have been re-fitted and she must be included in all bets.

Race 9

VENTUROUS was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on this course. She quickened up well, took the lead at the 350m mark and won with a ton in hand. It must be noted that both the second and third place finishers have come out and won since. She has won once and finished third twice from six starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can follow up.

WINTER’S DESTINY challenged strongly in her last start over this C&D, but found one too good in the form of Desert Pride. She has won once and finished second four times from six starts over this C&D. She has cracked a good draw of two and has a winning chance.

GIN AND TONIC finished 0.1 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 10

PEDRO rallied late when third over this distance on the turf last time. He takes a drop in class and with Keagan de Melo retaining the ride, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

BRAVE VOYAGER found betting support when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D and is one of the leading contenders.

GIAMBATTISTA won a good race in his last start over 1200m on the turf. He has won once and finished second three times from nine starts on this course. He is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion
