Race 1

RAF’S ROCKET made the expected natural improvement when fourth over 1200m on this course last time. He lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which he ran on was eye-catching. The son of Rafeef is progressive and will love the step up to 1400m. If jumping on terms, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

PROFESSOR LUPIN stayed on at the finish over 1200m last time, but found one too good in the form of Linkin Navigator. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will be suited to the 1400m and he is one of the leading contenders.

GIVETHATMANABELLS ran a fair race over 1200m on this course last time. He was squeezed leaving the start, but stayed on at the finish. The son of Horizon is bred to enjoy the rise to 1400m and he may have more to come.

Race 2

TURBO POWER produced a promising debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. He stayed on nicely at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Capsaicin. The son of Twice Over would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to 1400m. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be too good for this field.

OSHAKATI has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He returns from a 19-week break, which may have done him the world of good. If not in need of the run, he should pose a threat to the top choice.

TROIS TROIS QUATRE returns from a 26-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie is booked to ride and if fit, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 3

VICTOR RAIL’S last four starts have been good. He showed pace over 1000m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Inventrix. The 1100m will be right up his alley and in this line-up, he can shed his maiden tag.

BENNI IN THE AREA showed good speed over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time, but found one too good in the form of Neitherherenorther. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and may be hard to peg back.

STARS IN HEAVEN ran a positive race on debut over 1000m on this course. He returns from a 23-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 4

IMAGINABLE has finished third in his three outings to date. He raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and stayed on at the business end. The son of William Longsword would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He tries the 2000m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may be the one to beat.

DUKE OF AFRICA should have won his last start over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville as he hung in the closing stages. He is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

SAFE SPACE’S last three starts have been fair. He is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back.

Race 5

MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL stayed on when third over 1900m on this course last time. She was not disgraced when fifth against stronger company over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course in her penultimate start. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo steps into the saddle and she can notch up her fifth career victory.

GARDENIA was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off her back and she can follow up.

DUCHESS OF GOLD was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 6

PASCALI finished 1.7 lengths behind ACTION STATIONS last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has dropped to a competitive rating and if jumping on terms, he can return to winning ways.

ACTION STATIONS won a good race in his last start over 1600m on this course. He may be at his best over further, but is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

SENOR GARCIA should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was baulked for running room at the 400m mark and had to be switched. He has won twice and finished second three times from eight starts on this course. With a bit of luck in running, he should be competitive.

Race 7

WINTER WAVES has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He lost a length leaving the start last time, but stayed on to finish fifth. He has won once, finished second twice and third twice from eleven starts over this C&D. He does have an awkward draw of nine to contend with, but Keagan de Melo knows him well and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

HIPPOCRATES held on where it matters most to win his last start over 1200m on this course. Two of his four career victories have come over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of two and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SHIFTING PATH showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He raced from a handy position that day, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Global Secret. If confirming his recent improvement, he should run a big race.

Race 8

PREEMPTIVE STRIKE was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1400m on this course. His penultimate run when third was encouraging. Both his career victories have come over this distance. Sean Veale steps into the saddle and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

GREY OCEAN has fair recent form lines to his name. With a bit of luck from his awkward draw of nine, he should earn another cheque for his patrons.

PHAKA IMALI ran a good race when second over this C&D last time. He stayed on well at the finish that day, but found one too good in the form of Agressivo. He runs well for Ashton Arries and must be included in all bets
