Race 1

ONE RELIGION ran a decent race on debut over 1200m. She was green in running, but stayed on at the business end. The daughter of Silvano found betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the one to beat.

ROSE GREENHOW produced a promising debut effort over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She was slow into stride and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have come on from the run and is one of the leading contenders.

MOCHA MACAROON showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She was running on under Marco van Rensburg. If confirming that effort, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 2

STORM AHEAD ran a good race on debut over 1200m. He was slow into stride, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Rafeef would have come on from the run and will love the extra 250m on offer. He jumps from pole position and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to side with.

NAZARE has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was on the polytrack at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He will enjoy the extra distance on offer and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MAMBO‘S CALL showed good improvement when third over 1160m at Turffontein last time. The son of Mambo In Seattle is a progressive type and will love the rise to 1450m. He jumps from a good draw of four and may have more to come.

Race 3

LADY ELLIOT made the expected natural improvement when second in her last start over 1160m at Turffontein. She stayed on nicely at the finish that day, but found one too good in the form of Just Be Lekker. The daughter of Erupt will love the rise to 1450m and will strip much fitter. From pole position, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

FAIRY CIRCLE showed good improvement in her last start over 1000m. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will love the extra distance on offer. If this run has not come too soon, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GREEN BUBBLES showed signs of needing her last start over 1400m. She has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this C&D. She will strip much fitter and cannot be ignored.

Race 4

TOTAL SURRENDER followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1800m. He raced wide around the turn, ran on but it was a little too late. The son of Flower Alley looks to have ability and he will love the rise to 2000m. It is encouraging that Craig Zackey steps back into the saddle and he should be the horse to beat.

SILVANO‘S SONG finished 0.85 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

RYAN‘S DREAM ran a good race when second over 1800m on this course last time. He will love the step up to 2000m and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, he can go one better.

Race 5

CRIMSON PRINCESS raced from a handy position in the Listed Syringa Handicap last time, but found one too good in the form of Tipsy Tarragon. Two of her four career victories have come over this distance. She takes a drop back in class and may be the one to side with. She is carded to race on 15 June 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

ESCAPE ARTIST tried hard in her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She finished 1.4 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

AVOONTOAST finished 2.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 6

OCTOBER FAIR was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She returns from a well-deserved 11-week break which may have done her the world of good. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and if not in need of the run, she can follow up.

LUNAR BALLADE finished 1.35 lengths behind SAY YES last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

SAY YES produced a typical second run after a rest last time. She ran a good race when second in her penultimate run over this distance. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will be at peak fitness and she cannot be ignored.

Race 7

SIBERIAN STEEL finished 0.6 lengths behind IRON SKY last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He takes a slight drop-in class and on best form shown, he can return to winning ways.

IRON SKY followed up his maiden win with a good fourth-place finish over this C&D. He was unlucky not to have won that day as he was held up for a run at the 300m mark. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

TRE AMICI has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. It must be noted that Captain Dizzy has come out and won again since. He finished 1.5 lengths behind AXEL COLLINS in his penultimate start. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 8

COLDHARDSTARE won a game race in her last start over 1160m at Turffontein. She showed good speed and found another kick to hold all challengers at bay. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She received an eight-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and can follow up.

BIG EYED GIRL was not disgraced when fourth against males last time. She won a good race in her penultimate start over 1000m at Turffontein. The daughter of Vercingetorix tries the pacifiers. She will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.

ROZARA stayed on when second over 1000m last time. She finished 3.5 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line
