Race 1

CAPTAIN BOMBSHELL was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Gold Medallion in his penultimate effort. He followed that up with a decent effort behind Swing Upon A Star in the Grade 2 Umkhomazi Stakes. The son of Captain Of All would have strengthened up during his time off the track. He takes on Maiden Company and with Gavin Lerena retaining the ride, he should be the one to beat.

OSHAKATI showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D, under Robert Khathi. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. He jumps from a good draw of two and is one of the leading contenders.

MEDAL OF FREEDOM is an unraced son of Gimmethegreenlight from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. He is related to six-time winner Green Plains. If not too green, he should get his career off to a positive start. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

PREEMPTIVE STRIKE ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Twice Over takes a drop in class and with Rachel Venniker in the saddle, he can return to winning ways.

SAIPAN produced a good effort when fourth in his last start over this distance on the turf. He raced from a handy position before getting outrun late. He jumps from pole position and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

WE ALL CHOMIES is better than his last start over this distance on the turf. He has won once, finished second once and third three times from ten starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

FASHION MISTRESS produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. She raced from a handy position but was outrun late by Cape Princess. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and should have no issues with the drop to 1000m. With the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the horse to beat.

GUEST GETORIXX is still a maiden after 12 starts, but has good consistent form lines to her credit. She finished 0.4 lengths behind LADIES DAY in her penultimate effort. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

LADIES DAY showed good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D, despite reported to be coughing post race. She shows good speed in her races and may be hard to peg back.

Race 4

BECKONING BEAUTY ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on nicely at the business end. The daughter of What A Winter takes a drop in class and with 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa retaining the ride, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

RUSSIAN DOLL is unbeaten from two starts on this course. She returns from a 17-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Pathfork looks to have class about her and if not in need of the run, she may keep her unbeaten record intact.

MAGICALLEE is better than her last start. She won her penultimate effort with ease over this C&D. She jumps from a good draw of two and should be hard to chase down.

Race 5

SON OF RAJ is the best bet on the programme. He produced a promising debut effort over 1400m on this course. He lost a length at the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race that day caught the eye. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Duke Of Marmalade would have come on from the run and will love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

INSIGHTFUL improved in his last start over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course. He tries the mile and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be one of the leading contenders. He is carded to race on 23 October 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

TOMMY THE KIDD ran a fair race in his last start over 2000m on this course. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he can run into the placings.

Race 6

This is a weak Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is BARBATTI from the Garth Puller stable. He received a bump leaving the starting stalls last time and never got into the race. It must be noted that Street Art has come out and won again since. His penultimate effort when finishing second over 1400m on this course was fair. In this line-up, he may be the one to side with.

KING BAVARIAN ran a fair race on debut over 1400m on this course. He lost two lengths leaving the start, but stayed on to finish fourth. The son of Linngari will love the rise to the mile and he should make the natural improvement.

LOU LOU THE LEGEND was in need of his first two career outings. The son of Ideal World is still maturing, but in this field, he is capable of running into the placings.

Race 7

BEND THE RULES has decent recent form lines to his credit. He was not disgraced when finishing fourth against stronger company over 1600m on the turf last time. The son of Noble Tune returns to Handicap Company and he should use his early gate speed to get across from the widest draw without using up too much energy.

STANLEY was finishing his race off nicely over 1600m last time. That effort suggests that he should have no issues with the rise to 1900m. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TIN CUP followed up his maiden victory with a good third-place finish over 1950m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. He makes his way to KZN and if suited to the Polytrack, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 8

PRICELESS RULER is better than his last start suggests as he was reported to be coughing post-race. The 13-week break may have done him the world of good. He is unbeaten from three starts over this C&D and from pole position, he can keep that record intact.

MACARA was an easy winner of her last start over 1600m on the turf. She took the lead at the 250m mark that day and won with a ton in hand. She is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

PRINCE OF TARANTO showed good guts when winning his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. He has won three times from five starts on this course. If not in need of the run, he is capable of notching up the hat-trick
