Race 1

JOHNDUNBAR is better than his last start as he was reported to be cut into on his right hind leg. His debut effort over 1100m on the turf was encouraging. The son of Var will enjoy the drop to 1200m and in this type of field, he can shed his maiden tag.

TOP SAIL’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that Vanderbilt has come out and won again since. The drop to the 1200m is a slight concern, but if suited to the Polytrack, he should run a big race in this type of field.

SOUL CAPTAIN produced a decent debut effort over this C&D, ten weeks ago. He lost two lengths at the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The son of Master Of My Fate would have strengthened up during his time off the track and if not in need of the run, he should make the natural improvement.

Race 2

GRAPHENE AEROGEL set the pace in her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Bell Starbuster. The daughter of Jackson drops back to the mile and gets the blinkers fitted for the first time. If the headgear has the desired effect, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

MINSTREL GALLERY finished 3.65 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

EDVIGE should have finished closer last time as she was inconvenienced at the 350m mark. Her form prior to that outing was decent. She jumps from a good draw of four and with a bit of luck in running, she should go close to winning.

Race 3

TOP ME UP HOLLY showed good guts when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. Her apprentice dropped his crop that day which makes the victory that much more encouraging. She is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. 4kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa retains the ride and if not in need of the run, she should notch up her sixth career victory.

ROTUNDA has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.

GREENGROWTHELILACS took on a competitive field in the Grade 2 Track And Ball Oaks last time. She finished third in both her efforts over this distance. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 4

HIGH GREEN fought hard for his last victory over 1800m on this course. The 7yo gelding takes a drop in class. If repeating that effort in this type of field, he is capable of following up.

COROMANDEL’S last two starts have been decent. He stayed on strongly when third over 2000m on this course last time. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Gabriel Pieterse steps back into the saddle and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LIVING WATERS challenged strongly in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Master Tobe. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. Calvin Habib retains the ride and he should be competitive.

Race 5

GIMME A PRINCE was an impressive winner of his last start over this C&D. He ran on well and won easier than the official margin suggests. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Gimmethegreenlight has class about him and should be the horse to beat.

FIFTY FIVER ran a fair race in the Grade 2 WSB Guineas last time. He is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. On best form shown, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

AMBIORIX was a tad disappointing in the Non-Black Type Durban Dash last time. It must be noted that William Robertson has come out and won again since. He tries the polytrack for the first time and if suited, he should run a big race.

Race 6

MR MOLONY ran a good race when finishing third over this C&D last time. He was reported to be not striding out that day which makes the effort that much more encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished second has come out and won since. He is having his peak run and if Calvin Habib is able to switch him off early, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

FATE OF FORTUNE finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

FOREST JUMP won a good race in his last start over 1600m on this course. He raced from a handy position, quickened up well and won with a ton in hand. He runs well for Keagan de Melo and the combination merit healthy respect.

Race 7

DOUBLE MARTINI ran a fair race against stronger company over 1400m on this course last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Twice Over takes a drop in class and he may be the one to side with.

HIGH LEGISLATION finished 2.4 lengths behind FATHER’S FROST last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the wire.

FATHER’S FROST won a good race in his first start after 72 weeks off the track. He showed pace and drew clear of the opposition. He would have come on from the run and can follow up.

Race 8

BLUE EYES is having his first run for the Kumaran Naidoo stable. He showed pace in his last start over 1100m, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Midnight Badger. He takes a drop in class and is having his peak run. If settled into his new surroundings, he can make a winning local debut.

CAPETOWN AFFAIR set the pace over 1600m last time, but his pilot dropped his reins in the closing stages. He has finished second three times from four starts on this course. The blinkers get fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand.

GIMME A RAINBOW stayed on when third over 1000m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second once from six starts over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of two and merits healthy respect
