Race 1
PARIS PIKE is better than his last start at Hollywoodbets Scottsville as the jockey reported that he felt something amiss. He won a good race over this distance on the turf. The son of Erupt won his only attempt on this course. If putting his best foot forward, he should notch up his third career victory.
AERIAL DISPLAY followed up his maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1700m on this course. The son of Pathfork received a six-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
FAMOUS AND RICH is better than his last three starts in the Western Cape. It must be noted that the form of his last outing has been franked. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts on this course. The son of Visionaire should find a form return.
Race 2
UNCLE LUCKY‘S last three starts have been decent. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Sean Veale retains the ride and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat in this field.
RAFIKI was his own worst enemy over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time as he overraced in the early stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. If Robert Khathi is able to switch him off early, he should pose a massive threat.
ZABADAK raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of L’ultimo. He steps back up to the mile and should earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 3
IBUTHO stayed on when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. All three of his career victories have come on this course. The son of Duke Of Marmalade meets the right field and he can return to winning ways.
TOM‘S ACT was running on when fourth over this C&D last time. He gets the services of Rachel Venniker who takes the 1.5kgs off his back. He has cracked a good draw and if keeping on a straight line, he should be one of the leading contenders.
CAESURA is the stable companion of the top choice. He finished 0.45 lengths behind the second selection, three runs ago. He is 5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.
Race 4
DONTSHOOTTHEBARMAN ran a good race when fourth over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. He received a bump leaving the start, but showed pace before getting outrun late. The son of Visionaire tries the polytrack and with Keagan de Melo in the saddle, he can shed his maiden tag.
FISH EAGLE is the stable companion of the top choice. He moved up well over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but found one too good in the form of Black Egret. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he merits healthy respect.
ONE IRISH ROVER showed good speed when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. If confirming his recent improvement, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
FLYING THE STAR finished 2.05 lengths behind OUR EMILY last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe.
OUR EMILY showed good guts when winning her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
MAGICALLEE stayed on nicely when third over this C&D last time. She takes a drop in class and from her good draw of two, she should be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 6
LESLIES PATHTOFAME ran on powerfully when winning his last start over 1100m on this course. He returns from a well-deserved 14-week break. Four of his seven career victories have come over this C&D. If not in need of this run, he can follow up.
HALLERBOS is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. The son of Count Dubois gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BLESS ME FRED has finished second in his last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the closing stages and his pilot dropped her reins. Rachel Venniker will be looking to make amends.
Race 7
EAU DE VIE showed very good signs of a form return in her last start over this C&D. She was unlucky that day as she had to be switched for running room at the 200m mark and her pilot dropped his crop in the closing stages. The daughter of Twice Over drops in class and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
SHELL SEEKER may not have seen out the 1800m last time. It must be noted that Que For You has come out and won again since. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and the pair merit healthy respect.
ROSE PRINCESS showed good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. She is having her peak run and will be cherry-ripe.
Race 8
CAPETOWN AFFAIR is better than his last start suggests. He has won twice, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this C&D. He is likely to use his early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
AGRESSIVO finished 0.6 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
HATTA set the pace over this C&D last time and found more where it matters most. She received a four-pound penalty for that victory. She jumps from a good draw of two and should give the males a run for their money
