Race 1

COASTAL COMMANDER produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D, two weeks ago. He showed good speed, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Hluhluwe. The son of Lancaster Bomber found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

CAPTAIN ARROW has finished second in his last three starts. The son of Captain Of All tries the 1200m for the first time and if seeing out the extra furlong on offer, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice

ZIL MORIS has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. He raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, but was outrun late by Monumental. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 2

ONI SAN ran a fair race in her last start over 1100m on this course, against winners. She lost a length leaving the start, showed pace but cast a shoe in running which didn’t help her chances. The daughter of Danon Platina is back in Maiden Company and in this type of field, she is capable of shedding her maiden tag.

LIP SYNC showed good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She stayed on nicely at the finish that day, but found one too good in the form of Summer Lily. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

LADY LUCK is an unraced daughter of Vercingetorix from the Andre Nel stable with Corne Orffer in the saddle. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win a race of this nature. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 3

WILLIAM WEST should have won his last start over 1000m on this course as he had to switch for running room at the 400m mark. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1200m. The son of William Longsword will strip a much fitter horse today and with luck in running, he may be the one to beat.

CAFE CULTURE ran on well when touched off in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Var and he should be right there.

QUESTIONING is an unraced son of Querari from the Vaughan Marshall stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. He is related to six-time winner Golightly. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other unraced entrants.

Race 4

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL finished 0.4 lengths behind LOOK FORWARD last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She was unlucky not to have won that day as she was struck on the nose by a crop. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

LADY RENEE finished 0.7 lengths behind LOOK FORWARD last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

LOOK FORWARD has been doing her best work late in her last two starts, the latest of which was over this C&D. JP van der Merwe retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

Race 5

FINAL EDITION has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He challenged strongly in his last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville, but found one too good in the form of Kelp Forest. The son of Dynasty will love the step up to 1800m and in this line-up, he should be the one to beat.

MARSHALL FIELD finished 0.2 lengths behind RUN RUDOLPH RUN last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With a bit of luck in running, he should fight out the finish.

GIMME THE BEST challenged strongly in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Donder Storm. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he must be included in all bets.

Race 6

FALLO ANCORA set the pace in her last start over this C&D, but was caught late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is likely to adopt the same tactics from her awkward draw of nine and may be hard to peg back.

FLIRTY DANCER produced four decent efforts in KZN. She returns from a 27-week break during which time she changed stables. If not in need of the run, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BLIND FAITH finished 1.25 lengths behind GO LIKE FLO last time. She is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If repeating that effort, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

HAPPY CHANCE fought hard for her victory in the Listed WSB Sweet Chestnut Stakes over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Dynasty has won twice from three starts over this distance. She has plenty of class and despite her awkward draw of seven, she should notch up her fourth career victory.

KWINTA‘S LIGHT finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She tries the mile for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, she may be hard to peg back.

GOING UP ran a creditable race in the Grade 3 Champagne Stakes behind Rio Querari last time. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. From pole position, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 8

ROCKPOOL was a tad disappointing in the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby last time. He returns from a 12- week break, during which time he was gelded. The son of Futura showed his class when winning the Grade 3 Politician Stakes in his penultimate effort over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should return to winning ways

ITSRAININGWILLIAM finished 0.3 lengths behind HOEDSPRUIT last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He tries the 1800m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should go close to winning.

HOEDSPRUIT stayed on well when second to Without Question in the Grade 3 WSB Variety Club Mile last time. He has won twice from four starts over this C&D. He is likely to be given a chance from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 9

DANCE VARIETY finished 0.4 lengths behind NIGHT TIGER last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He was unlucky not to have won last time as he was cramped for galloping room at the 300m mark. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

NIGHT TIGER was a shock winner in his last start over this C&D. He showed good speed that day and found extra where it matters most. The son of Rafeef is in a good space and can follow up.

KIMBALL O’HARA finished 2.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result

RACE 10

MONTIEN is better than his last start over 1600m on this course. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Louis The King carries a light mass of 53kgs and if putting his best foot forward, he can notch up his second career victory.

SUDDEN SONG has some decent recent form lines to his credit. He finished 0.4 lengths behind THE FUTURIST in his penultimate outing. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

THE FUTURIST showed good guts when winning his last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He is likely to have his own way in front from barrier two and may be hard to catch in the run down to the line
