Race 1

USA’S HOPE took on stronger in the Non-Black Type BSA Sales Cup (C&G) last time. His debut effort when finishing third over this distance at Hollywoodbets Greyville was encouraging. He returns from a 26- week break, during which time he was gelded. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie rides on his return and he may be the one to beat.

THEWOLFOFWOLSELEY has shown good improvement in each of his outings to date. He should have won his last start as he hung inwards in the closing stages. The son of Elusive Fort returns from a 27-week break, during which time he changed stables. If not in need of the run, he should pose a massive threat.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL stayed on strongly when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Coup De Grace is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 2

SHARAPOVA is the best bet on the programme. She set the pace over 1400m last time, but was outrun late by Rafeef’s Choice. The well-bred daughter of Querari should have no issues with the drop to 1200m. She is a progressive type and is the horse to beat under Bernard Fayd’Herbe.

ALLENDE finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. The drop to the 1200m may suit her well.

ON BOARD finished 2.35 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. The daughter of Vercingetorix should be at home over this distance and must be included in all bets.

Race 3

MONTIEN has produced two good second-place finishes to date. He set the pace over 1400m last time, but was outrun late by Nevada King. The son of Louis The King should have no issues with the rise to the mile. He jumps from pole position and may be hard to peg back.

STRATOSPHERIC ran a good race when finishing third over 1400m on this course last time. He was unlucky that day as he raced wide around the turn. The son of What A Winter jumps from a good draw of three and is one of the leading contenders.

CONTIGUOUS should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was held up for a run at the 400m mark. He returns from a 16-week break, during which time he was gelded. With a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 4

WILLIAM THE FIRST finished 0.5 lengths behind SUDDEN SONG last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and from his good draw of two, can go one better.

OVER TWO YOU showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 2400m on this course. He is having his third run after a rest and will be at peak fitness. The son of Twice Over takes a drop in class and should pose a massive threat.

COSMIC EVENT followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over 1800m on this course. He raced from a handy position, but found one too good in the form of Mucho Dinero. He won his maiden over this distance and with a bit of luck from barrier 15, he should be competitive.

Race 5

BLACKBERRY MALT ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from five starts over this distance. He comes into the race with a handy galloping mass of 52kgs and can notch up his second career victory.

QUASIFORSURE produced a good effort when second over 1400m last time. He was returning from a lengthy 54-week break that day and would have come on from the run. Sean Veale retains the ride and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PREVALENCE finished 1.5 lengths behind CHAMPION WARRIOR last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

Race 6

WINTER GREETING hails from the visiting Sean Tarry stable. She followed up her debut win with an equally impressive victory over this distance at the Vaal. She set the pace, found another kick and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of What A Winter makes her way to the Western Cape and if suited to the left-hand turn, she should keep her unbeaten record intact.

OSCAR’S WINNER ran a fair race in her last start over 1200m. Two of her three career victories have come over this distance. She is having her peak run and on best form shown, she should pose a massive threat.

HUNTING TRIP faced a competitive field in the Grade 2 Southern Cross Stakes last time. She won her previous two starts with ease. She comes into this contest well-weighted and should find a form return.

Race 7

SYMPHONY OF LIGHT ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Trippi takes a drop in class and should strip a much fitter horse. She will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the line.

LOUIS’ DIAMOND finished 2.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

HEAR MY VOICE showed good speed when winning her last start over this C&D. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory. JP van der Merwe retains the ride and she can follow up.

Race 8

CHARLIE MALONE followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. He was settled near the rear of the field and ran on powerfully. It is encouraging that Aldo Domeyer steps back into the saddle and if not too far out of his ground at the halfway mark, he can return to winning ways.

CHEEKY LADDIE finished 4.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

FLY TO RIO ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1400m. The 5yo mare received a three-pound penalty for that victory. She carries a light mass of 50.5kgs and should give the males a run for their money
