Race 1
TICKET TO VEGAS has shown improvement in her last two starts. She raced from just off the pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of William Longsword is a progressive type and she will love the rise to 1400m. From pole position, she may be the one to side with in this line-up.
WOMAN’S WORLD stayed on when sixth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. She finished 1 length behind the top choice in her penultimate outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
WINDRUNNER was in need of her debut effort over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and will enjoy the extra distance on offer. Aldo Domeyer takes the ride and she should make the natural improvement.
Race 2
AVIGNON lost a length leaving the start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. The son of Master Of My Fate is a progressive individual. He is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from his wide draw and if not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can go one better.
LORD FYFIELD showed good improvement when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice that day. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
KYOMAI did not settle in the early stages of his last outing at Hollywoodbets Durbanville and he was green around the turn. If Richard Fourie is able to switch him off early, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.
Race 3
NARINA TROGON was given a peach of a ride when winning the Non-Black Type Newlands Stakes last time. He lost a length leaving the start, but finished his race off strongly to get the better of Kitchakal. The son of Silvano finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. Devin Ashby retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
FUTURE SWING is a winner of his last three starts. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. He is versatile and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SUGAR MOUNTAIN drew off well when winning his last start over 1400m on this course. He is yet to win over this distance, but is in a good space and cannot be ignored.
Race 4
BARDOLINO stayed on at the finish over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Sugar Mountain. He finished 1.05 lengths behind INTIMIDATOR in his penultimate outing. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Oratorio has cracked pole position and should notch up his second career victory.
INTIMIDATOR followed up his maiden win with a hard-fought victory over this C&D. The son of The United States was given a two-pound penalty for that victory. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and he can notch up the hat-trick.
THUNDER MASTER rallied late when fourth over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He won a good race in his penultimate outing over this C&D. Aldo Domeyer returns to the saddle and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 5
CIAO BELLA is better than her last two starts suggest. She returns from a 12-week break which may have done her the world of good. She won her only attempt over this C&D, four runs ago. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight races well fresh and on best form shown, she can return to winning ways.
HAPPY CHANCE stayed on when third in the Non-Black Type The Magnolia last time. She would have come on from the outing and will strip a much fitter horse. With a bit of luck from her awkward draw of nine, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
GIMME’S LASSIE finished 2 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She has finished third twice from as many starts over this C&D and will be at peak fitness.
Race 6
BEREAVE ran on powerfully when winning the Grade 2 Khaya Stables Diadem Stakes last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He has won twice, finished second three times and third once from eight starts over this C&D. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and he is the horse to beat.
RIO QUERARI was unlucky not to have won his last start as he cast a shoe in running. He has found form in his last three runs and merits healthy respect.
COUNTDOWN won a good race in his last start over this distance on the Fairview Polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He finished 3.95 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate start. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today which is not enough for the tables to be turned.
Race 7
Trainer Justin Snaith holds a strong hand in this contest and he can saddle the first four past the post. WITHOUT QUESTION ran a good race when third in the Grade 1 SplashOut Cape Derby last time. He raced from a handy position and stayed on at the business end. His last victory came over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps into the saddle and he may be the one to side with.
POMP AND POWER ran on from far back when third in the Grade 1 WSB Cape Town Met last time. He returns from a well-deserved 12- week break. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. He has bigger plans this season, but has the class to be competitive.
SILVER DARLING produced some decent form lines during the Cape Summer Season. She has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. This will be a prep run for bigger things this season, but she is capable of giving the males a run for their money.
Race 8
SPYWING took on males and stronger company in the Non-Black Type Newlands Stakes last time. Her penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging. She finished 0.8 lengths behind TOUCH OF GRACE that day. She is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Ashton Arries steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
HEAR MY VOICE is better than her last start as she clipped heels at the 1000m mark. Her two starts prior to that outing were encouraging. She has won once and finished second twice from six starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, she may be the one to cause the upset.
