Race 1

Half of the runners in this contest are first-timers and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. EPIKLEROS was in need of her debut effort over this C&D. She understandably was green in running. The daughter of Master Of My Fate found outside betting support that day which suggests that she was showing good work at home. She would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

BRIGHT DUCHESS is an unraced daughter of Duke Of Marmalade from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Keagan de Melo in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including Raven Girl and Speechmaker. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note.

FUTURE STAR ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on this course. The daughter of Futura is bred to enjoy the step up to 1200m and she should make the natural progression with Grant van Niekerk retaining the ride.

Race 2

MONTELENA showed very good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She lost a length leaving the start, but the manner in which she ran on at the finish was eye-catching. The daughter of The United States is a progressive type and she may be the one to side with.

FATAL GEM ran a good race when second over this C&D. She was settled near the rear of the field and the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CALLMEGETRIX ran a decent race on debut over 1000m on this course. She was slow into stride, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the experience and with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle, she should be involved at the finish.

Race 3

NOON DAY GUN ran a fair race in the Listed City Of Cape Town Summer Juvenile Stakes last time. The manner in which he finished off his race that day was encouraging. His debut effort when third over this C&D, catches the eye. The son of Gimmethegreenlight returns from an 18-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He takes on Maiden Company this afternoon and if fit, should be the one to beat.

CAPTAIN ARROW did not go on with the effort over 1200m last time. He finished second in his three efforts prior to that outing over this distance. He has racing fitness on his side and is one of the leading contenders.

HEAD GIRL is better than her last start over 1200m. She returns from an 18-week break which may have done her the world of good. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. If not in need of the run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

GO LIKE FLO has decent consistent form lines to her credit. She stayed on at the finish over 1600m last time, but found one too good in the form of Fallo Ancora. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight will love the rise to 1800m and in this type of field, she may be rewarded for consistency.

POORLITTLERICHGIRL finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. She will love the rise to 1800m and will strip much fitter.

BEAU KALA finished 1.35 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. Keanen Steyn takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

Race 5

NARINA TROGON should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was cramped for galloping room in the final 100m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has done the trick on the son of Silvano and he is maturing into a decent type. With a bit of luck in running, he can notch up his third career victory.

NEVADA KING finished 0.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. Both his career victories have come under Richard Fourie and the combination merit healthy respect.

HASTA MANANA should have finished closer to the winner last time as he was held up for a run from the 200m mark to the finish. He is having his peak run today and from his good draw of three, he should run a big race.

Race 6

OSCAR’S WINNER has fair recent form lines to her credit. She returns from a 13-week break which would have done her the world of good. She has won twice and finished third once from six starts over this distance. The 5yo mare has class about her and if able to find her best form, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

INARA’S DYNASTY returns from a lengthy 32-week break. She showed some good promise when winning two out of her five starts to date. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

SPYWING showed good speed in her last start over 1200m, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Miss Marguerite who has come out and won again since. She is better suited to 1200m, but is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

Race 7

DISTANT WINTER followed up her maiden win with a good victory in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery over 1100m. She showed a good turn of foot and held on where it matters most. The daughter of What A Winter has plenty of class and should notch up the hat-trick.

SUMMER LILY was an easy winner on debut over this C&D. She was slow into stride, but quickened up well and won going away. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight takes on stronger, but she could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

UNCONQUERABLE LADY is a progressive type and won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. She does take on stronger opposition, but has ability and should run into the placings under Keagan de Melo.

Race 8

BALTIC SECRET was not beaten far in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery last time. She was still green in running, but the manner in which she finished off her race was encouraging. She was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1000m. The daughter of Querari will love the step up to 1200m and she should give the males a run for their money.

DUMBLEDORE finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He will love the extra distance on offer and is one of the leading contenders. TEFLON MAN was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag at the third time of asking. He is a progressive type and despite meeting stronger company, he must be included in all bets.

Race 9

TUSCAN GOLD showed good pace in his last start over 1000m on this course and fought hard all the way to the line. He is in a good space and meets similar company. Craig Zackey takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MASKED VIGILANTE finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms this afternoon and he may have to settle for the same result.

FINAL MOVE finished 1.55 lengths behind the top selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may battle to turn the form around. He has dropped to a competitive rating and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 10

WHERE’S THE PARTY stayed on strongly when third in her last start over 1200m on this course. She drops to the 1000m and the fitting of the blinkers should sharpen her up. The daughter of Pathfork drops in class and with the services of Keagan de Melo, she may be the one to side with.

PORQUE TE VAS showed good speed over this C&D last time, but was outrun late by She’s My Captain. The daughter of Querari is in a very good space and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MUSICAL ARTS won a good race when shedding her maiden tag at the second time of asking. She raced from just off the pace and found extra where it matters most. The daughter of Oratorio takes on older and stronger rivals, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
