Race 1

BLUE HOLLY followed up her maiden win with an equally impressive victory over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She showed good speed, found another kick and drew clear of the opposition. She is a progressive type and can notch up the hat-trick.

SPEEDING BULLET finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

GET IMPRESSED is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Justin Snaith yard with stable jockey Richard Fourie in the saddle. If not too green in running, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

Race 2

GOLDEN SICKLE should have finished closer in the Non-Black Type BSA Sales Cup for fillies as she hung outwards in the closing stages. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She meets the right field this afternoon and if keeping on a straight line, she should take a power of beating.

OCTOBER MORN was in need of her debut effort over 1200m on this course. She lost a length at the start, understandably raced green but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Trippi would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be one of the leading contenders.

GREEN VALKYRIE was doing her best work at the finish on debut over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression under Grant van Niekerk.

Race 3

GREENGROWTHELILACS showed signs of needing her last start over 1600m on this course. She has finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this distance. She will strip a much fitter horse today and with just 53.5kgs on her back, she can notch up her second career victory.

FLEETING fought hard in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Miss Greenlight. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

ACADEMIC GOLD finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 4

GO LIKE FLO is lightly raced with good form lines to her credit. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in her last outing has come out and won since. She has finished second twice and third once from four starts on this course. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight tries the blinkers for the first time and if the headgear has the desired effect, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

APPLE CATCHER was her own worst enemy over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time as she over raced in the early stages. Her first two career outings over this C&D were encouraging. She gets a change of headgear and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should be competitive.

LOOK FORWARD showed good improvement in her last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. If confirming her recent improvement, she should be right there.

Race 5

This is a competitive Maiden Plate and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is LAUGHING WILLIAM from the Eric Sands stable. He was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m on this course. His penultimate run when second over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville was encouraging. He does have a wide draw to overcome and with a bit of luck, he can shed his maiden tag.

OLIVER finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

CONTIGUOUS should have finished closer to the winner last time. He returns from a 13-week break which may have done him the world of good. On his previous form, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

Race 6

OSCAR’S WINNER finished 0.4 lengths behind QUEEN OF SPARTA last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She finished 0.85 lengths behind BONIKA in her penultimate run. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. With a bit of luck in running, she can notch up her fourth career victory.

BONIKA was cramped late when fourth in the Non-Black Type Newlands Stakes last time. She is back against her own sex and will be involved in the fight to the finish.

MISS GREENLIGHT rallied late when winning her last start over 1600m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She meets a similar type of field today and merits healthy respect.

Race 7

This is a competitive Open Maiden for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is ON BOARD from the Andre Nel stable. She was unlucky in her last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville as she clipped heels at the 1000m mark. The daughter of Vercingetorix steps up to the mile which may suit her well. With a bit of luck in running, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

MOTHERSHIP showed good improvement in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She stayed on at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Cloud Chaser. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

FALLO ANCORA finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the wire.

Race 8

ROYAL WATCH is a winner of his last two starts under jockey JP van der Merwe. He was slow into stride over this C&D last time, but ran on strongly to get the better of NIGHT RULER. He returns from a well-deserved 14-week break. The son of Dynasty jumps from pole position and if not in need of the run, he can notch up the hat-trick.

FLOWER OF SAIGON‘S last two starts in feature events have been good. Two of her three career victories have come on this course. She is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the widest draw without using up too much energy.

SUDDEN SONG fought hard in his last start, but found one too good in the form of The Futurist. He is running well for jockey Keanen Steyn and must be included in all bets.

Race 9

RUN RUDOLPH RUN challenged strongly in his last start over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville, but was outrun by Big Poppa. He does have a wide draw to overcome, but Aldo Domeyer retains the ride and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

AUTUMN MOON finished 0.5 lengths behind GIMME THE BEST last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D and is one of the leading contenders.

GIMME THE BEST ran a good race when third over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and he will strip much fitter. From his handy draw of five, he should be involved in the fight to the finish
