Race 1

OPEN HIGHWAY produced an eye-catching debut effort over 1000m on the Classic course. He took time to find his feet, but finished his race off strongly. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Var would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

READY TO CHARGE hails from the Mike and Adam Azzie yard and he is a son of Gimmethegreenlight. His mother San Fermin won on debut over 1400m. JP van der Merwe takes the ride and if not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first-timers.

TYSON THE BRAVE is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Stuart Pettigrew yard with Philasande Mxoli in the saddle. He is related to five-time winner So Var. If not in need of the run, he should give a good account of himself.

Race 2

CALA MURETTA made the expected natural improvement when second over 1200m on this course last time. She raced from just off the pace, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Queen Of Camelot. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and with Aldo Domeyer retaining the ride, she can go one better.

DIVINE MOONLIGHT showed good speed over 1000m on the Classic course last time, challenged strongly but was outrun by Callmewhenuneedme. The tongue-tie seems to have done the trick and she is one of the leading contenders.

WUGUG finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. She would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 3

AFRAAD ran a fair race in his last start over 3000m on the Turffontein Inside course. He set the early pace that day and stayed on at the finish. The 6yo gelding is in a good space and can notch up his seventh career victory.

GREAT AFFAIR finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance and is one of the leading contenders.

PRIME EXAMPLE fought hard for his last victory over 2400m on this course. He takes on stronger, but carries a handy galloping mass of 52kgs. If seeing out the 3200m, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

This is a weak Maiden Plate and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to the unraced entrants. BRENHEISEN hails from the Candice Dawson stable and he is a son of Master Of My Fate. He is related to Nyali Beach who has won once and placed twice from four career starts. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and if not too green, he should start his career on a positive note.

WILLIAM IRON ARM is a son of William Longsword from the Alec Laird yard with Craig Zackey in the irons. If not in need of this outing, he should give a good account of himself in this field.

FULL GO may be the first raced runner past the post. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. If jumping on terms, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

Race 5

WINTER GREETING was not disgraced when sixth in the Non-Black Type WSB Gold Rush last time. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of What A Winter won her first two career outings on this course. She is a filly with ability and if not in need of the run, she should notch up her fourth career victory.

FOLLOW ME was doing her best work late when fifth over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

LUCY IN THE SKY showed good speed when winning her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from nine starts over this C&D. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 6

MINI COOP was running on too late when third over 1100m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The son of Coup De Grace is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. He takes a drop in class and should be the horse to beat.

BLACK EGRET has produced two good efforts since winning his maiden over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. He shows good speed in his races and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

STORM DICTATOR finished 1.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 7

THERE SHE GOES stayed on when fifth over 1000m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She finished 0.8 lengths behind LOLLAPALOOZA, four runs ago. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Time Thief drops in class and with Wesley Marwing back in the saddle, she may be the one to beat.

LOLLAPALOOZA ran on from last when second in her last outing over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. Craig Zackey retains the ride and she can go one better.

BERENGARIA finished 1.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. She will strip a much fitter horse and it is encouraging that Piere Strydom retains the ride.

Race 8

QUANTUM showed some signs of a form return in her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. It must be noted that Escape Artist has come out and won again since. She takes a slight drop in class and if suited to the straight course, she can return to winning ways.

PRINCESS ILARIA was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. She received a six-pound penalty for that victory. She is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

BATIK finished 0.8 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
