Race 1

MUSICAL ARTS produced a promising debut effort over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She took time to find her feet, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Oratorio would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be the horse to beat.

STRATA finished 1.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

NILE THE BOSS may not have seen out the 1250m in her last start at this stage of her career. Her penultimate run when third over this C&D was encouraging. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.

Race 2

QUICK TRIP is the best bet on the programme. She showed good speed in her last start over 1200m, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Distant Winter. The daughter of Trippi should be suited to the 1000m and in this type of field, she should take a power of beating.

BALTIC SECRET is an unraced daughter of Querari from the Justin Snaith yard with stable jockey Richard Fourie in the saddle. If not too green in running, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

FLYING V is the stable companion of the second choice. She showed good improvement in her last start over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. The daughter of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and should have more to come.

Race 3

CAPTAIN ARROW has finished second in his last two starts. He raced from just off the pace over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, but found one too good in the form of Blue Holly. The son of Captain Of All is back in Maiden Company and he can get it right this afternoon.

GRAVITY is an unraced son of Querari from the Justin Snaith yard with Richard Fourie in the saddle. He is related to multiple winners including Mercury Rising and Taikonaut. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers in this contest.

SILVER CROWN is better than his last start as he was unbalanced at the 400m mark. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

Race 4

SILVER DARLING ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Schweppes Majorca Stakes last time. She is a classy individual who has no stamina issues. This outing will bring her on for future races and she may have bigger things to come this season. She is carded to race on 23 April 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

NAVY STRENGTH finished 0.5 lengths behind HAN SOLO last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.

MASTER REDOUTE rallied late when fourth over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time. He has won once and finished second twice from six starts on this course. The son of Querari merits healthy respect.

Race 5

WHO DO YOU LOVE ran a good race when third over 1400m last time. She returns from a 13-week break which would have done her the world of good. The drop to 1100m should not pose a concern as she won twice over 1000m and once over 1200m in her first three starts. The daughter of Rafeef is the class horse in this race and should be the horse to beat.

WINTER FURI ran a decent race in her last start over 1000m on this course. She finished 2.65 lengths behind PACIFIC GREEN in her penultimate run. She is 8.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If fit, she should go close to winning.

PACIFIC GREEN is better than her last start in the Non-Black Type The Magnolia. Her form prior to that outing was good. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and the combination cannot be ignored.

Race 6

LIKETHECLAPPERS was his own worst enemy over this C&D last time as he over raced in the early stages. However, he managed to stay on nicely to finish second. The son of Pomodoro is having his peak run and will be cherry-ripe. If Richard Fourie is able to switch him off early, he should be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

CAPTIVE MOON finished 0.8 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

PAPER TRAIL finished 0.05 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today. The son of Legislate will be staying on at the business end.

Race 7

BENJAMIN showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1000m on this course. He raced from just off the pace, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Bluff On Bluff. He has won twice and finished second twice from eight starts over this C&D. The son of What A Winter takes a drop in class and can go one better.

DANCE VARIETY finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

SWIFT ACTION was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D, in this class. He raced from just off the pace, quickened up well and drew clear of the opposition. He meets a similar line-up this afternoon and can follow up.

Race 8

VELDSKOEN was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. He was slow into stride, settled at the rear of the field and ran on powerfully. He received a six-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Snitzel takes a rise in class, but he has ability and can notch up his third career victory.

WYAG finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

NORTHERN SONG finished 0.3 lengths behind BEERENBERG last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter
