Race 1

FRANZ LEHAR was an impressive winner on debut over 1000m on this course. He took time to find his feet, but ran on powerfully to win going away. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of Querari could be anything and he should remain unbeaten.

SLIM JANNIE ran a fair race in his last start over 1200m on the Polytrack. He produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course when 1.2 lengths behind the top choice. The 1100m should be right up his alley and he is one of the leading contenders.

VARIETY FAIR ran a fair race on debut over 1000m on the Polytrack. She found some betting support that day and would have come on from the run. She may prefer the grass and with the natural progression that is expected, she can run into the placings.

Race 2

PETIT VERDOT ran a decent race on debut over this distance on the Polytrack. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of What A Winter would have come on from the run and in this type of field, she can shed her maiden tag.

GAJACK is an unraced daughter of Twice Over from the Dennis Drier yard with Sean Veale in the saddle. Her mother, Vanity Fair was a one-time winner over 1000m. She does not need to be a stable superstar to win in this type of field. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first-timers.

VICTORY BELLE was in need of her debut effort over this distance on the Polytrack. She would have gained from the experience and with the services of top jockey Richard Fourie, she can improve to run into the placings.

Race 3

HONEY LAND has produced two decent efforts to date. She raced from a handy position over this trip on the Polytrack last time, but lacked extra in the latter stages. The daughter of Duke Of Marmalade may enjoy the switch to the turf. She is a progressive type and may be the one to beat.

TIME CHASER took on stronger in the Grade 2 Golden Slipper last time. Her first two career outings over this distance were encouraging. She is back in Maiden Company and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

CINNAMON BLUSH raced wide around the turn in her last run and faded in the straight. Her first two outings over 1200m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf track were promising. Warren Kennedy steps back into the saddle and she must be included in all bets.

Race 4

BLACKBERRY MALT was not disgraced when finishing sixth in the BSA Sales Cup (C&G) against winners. His penultimate run when finishing third over this C&D was encouraging. He jumps from pole position and if getting away to a clean start, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

BLACK CHERRY ran a decent race on debut over 1200m. He found betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. The son of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and will love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be one of the leading contenders.

PROFESSOR SNAPE caught the eye when running on to finish second on debut over 1500m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 5

NEWS STREAM has shown signs of returning to best form in his last two starts. He should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the latter stages. He gets a change of headgear and is having his peak run. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class and can notch up his sixth career victory.

DUKE OF RAIN hails from the visiting Lucky Houdalakis yard. He stayed on when fourth over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that Vanderbilt has come out and won again since. If all went well with his travels, he should pose a massive threat.

INCREDIBILL’S last two starts have been fair. He gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 6

DRAMA QUEEN was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She was settled in a good position turning for home, quickened up well and got up late. She received a three-pound penalty for that victory and can follow up.

ROTUNDA kept finding to win her last start over 1800m on the Polytrack. She finished 1.1 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

TOP ME UP HOLLY finished 0.95 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 2kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She is having her second run after a rest and should strip much fitter.

Race 7

COURAGEOUS CAT was super-impressive when winning on debut over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course. He returns from a lengthy 41-week break. The son of Kitten’s Joy could be anything and Mike de Kock is no stranger to getting his horses fit for their return to racing. He carries a handy galloping mass o 54kgs and can remain unbeaten.

MARDI GRAS’ last two starts have been fair. He has won three times, finished second three times and third once from ten starts over this distance. He returns to Handicap Company and Craig Zackey may be able to get the best out of him.

SASHAY AWAY ran a decent race when fourth over 1700m on the Polytrack last time. She finished second on debut over this C&D. The daughter of Var has ability and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 8

SIR POM did not get away to the best of starts last time, but the manner in which he finished off his race was encouraging. He takes a drop in class and will enjoy the extra furlong on offer. If getting away to a clean start, he can return to winning ways.

PURPLE OPERATOR won a good race in his last start over 1000m on the Polytrack. His record over this distance is a slight concern, but he is in a good space and can follow up.

HAPPY WANDERER was unlucky not to have won his last start over 1000m on this course. He was carried outwards by the winner in the closing stages. The 5yo gelding is carded to race on 24 July 2022 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored
