Race 1

PURE PREDATOR finished 1.1 lengths behind FIRE ‘N FLAMES last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights which should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of New Predator won a good race on debut over this C&D. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and if jumping on terms, he should be the horse to beat.

FIRE ‘N FLAMES showed good speed when winning his last start over 1200m on the Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Denis Schwarz retains the ride and he may be hard to peg back.

AMPERSAND was doing her best work late when fourth over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course on debut. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Judpot would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should have a say.

Race 2

WOMEN OF FAME has produced three good runs to date. She raced from just off the pace in the Grade 3 Pretty Polly Stakes last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of What A Winter has ability and with S’manga Khumalo retaining the ride, she can shed her maiden tag.

RED HOT ROSE moved up like a winner over 1450m last time, but was caught late by Soldier’s Eye. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She finished 0.7 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

ICE STAR is better than her last start over 1200m on the Inside course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She may be a better horse on the straight course and with the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Siyanda Sosibo, she cannot be ignored.

Race 3

This is a competitive Maiden Sprint field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is IRON SKY from the Stuart Pettigrew yard. He was running on when second over 1000m on this course last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He steps back up to the 1160m and if jumping on terms, he can shed his maiden tag.

GIMME A DIAMOND was caught in the shadow of the post by subsequent winner, Bob’s Your Uncle last time. He drops back to the 1160m and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SILVER TUDOR ran a good race when second in a work riders contest last time. He finished 4.1 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

Race 4

HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE ran a good race when third in his first run for the Stuart Pettigrew stable. He raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the business end. The son of What A Winter would have come on from the run and in this field, he can notch up his third career victory.

CHYAVANA is a winner of his last two starts under Gavin Lerena. He showed good speed with the blinkers last time and found extra where it matters most. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.

GODSWOOD won a good race over 1000m at the Vaal last time. He finished 1.45 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate effort. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

FREEDOM SQUARE was in need of her debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.

Race 5

GILDED BUTTERFLY finished 1.5 lengths behind TERRA TIME in the Listed Jacaranda Handicap. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She has won twice from three starts over this distance. If jumping on terms, she can notch up her sixth career victory.

TERRA TIME tried hard in her last start over this C&D. She has cracked a good draw of two and is one of the leading contenders despite her big mass of 61.5kgs.

CRIMSON PRINCESS stayed on when second over this distance on the Inside course last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. The 5yo mare is in a good space and must be included in all bets.

Race 6

HIGH ROLLER showed good signs of a form return in the Listed Ormond Ferraris Oaks Trial last time. She raced from a handy position but was outrun late. The daughter of Potala Palace won her only attempt over this distance. Craig Zackey retains the ride and from her good draw of four, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

TRUMP MY QUEEN has good recent form lines to her credit. It must be noted that Ipso Facto has come out and won again since. She takes a slight drop in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners in her stable debut.

SPECIAL CHARM produced some fair form lines before given a 14-week break. She is at her best over further but in this line-up, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 7

LIGHT OF THE MOON is better than her last two starts suggest. She was in need of her comeback run over 1800m against male company. The daughter of Futura has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this distance. She will strip a much fitter horse and on best form shown, she can notch up her fifth career victory.

APACHE FIGHTER was an easy winner of the Non-Black Type 4Racing Sun Chariot Handicap last time. She raced from a handy position and drew clear of the opposition. She is in a good space and with a bit of luck from the widest draw, she can follow up.

KIND JUDY stayed on when fourth over 1800m on the Inside course last time. She finished 3.25 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 8

UNDER YOUR SPELL finished second in this race last year. She was not disgraced when fourth in the Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time. She raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. She is a filly that always gives of her best and she may be the one to beat.

FEATHER BOA finished 0.15 lengths behind HUMDINGER last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

HUMDINGER was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. She is likely to have her own way in front and may be hard to peg back.

Race 9

LILLIANA received a bump leaving the starting stalls last time, but stayed on to finish fourth. She would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. The daughter of Vercingetorix is back against her own sex today and with luck from the widest draw, she can return to winning ways.

JUST BE NICE is a winner of her last two starts, the latest of which was over 1450m on the Inside course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She meets a similar field this afternoon and can notch up the hat-trick.

TRENTINO returns from a lengthy 40-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight showed potential before the rest and if not in need of the run, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 10

WIND WATER ran a good race when second in the Non-Black Type Gold Rush Sprint last time. It must be noted that Mercantour has come out and won again since. He won his only attempt over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he should be the one to beat with Keagan de Melo retaining the ride.

AUSSENKEHR followed up his maiden win with a good victory over this C&D. He showed good speed and found extra where it matters most. The son of Elusive Fort merits healthy respect.

SUPER AGRA stayed on when third over 1000m at the Vaal last time. He has won once and finished third once from three starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and must be considered
