RACE 1

Trainer Gavin Smith holds a strong hand in this contest and can saddle the first two past the post. QUESTOR produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.

GLOBAL BANKER finished 2.1 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

PUBLIC BENEFIT showed some improvement in her last start over 1200m. The daughter of Erupt should love the step up to 1400m. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and she may have more to come.

RACE 2

PERFECTION has won his last two starts with ease, the latest of which was the Listed East Cape Guineas on the polytrack. He has won twice and finished second twice from five starts on this course. He is likely to have his own way in front once again and if seeing out the 2000m, he may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

HEATHCLIFF finished 8.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

QUASIMODO took the lead at 300m mark last time and kept going well to hold all challengers at bay. He does take on much stronger, but is in a good space and can finish in the first three.

RACE 3

PAINITE showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He finished 0.8 lengths behind OPENING CEREMONY that day. He is 5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of Twice Over will strip a much fitter horse and with a bit of luck in running, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

OPENING CEREMONY was running on when second over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If jumping on terms, he should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

GREEN FALCON stayed on when third over 1200m on the polytrack last time. He will enjoy racing on the turf and from pole position, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 4

CARBONADO stayed on when fourth over 1400m on the polytrack last time. Her penultimate run when winning the Breeders Guineas Plate (Fillies) on this course, catches the eye. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she will love the rise to 1600m. She jumps from a good draw of four and may be the one to side with.

DAUGHTER OF ZEUS set the pace when winning her last start over 1400m on this course. She has won once, finished second six times and third once from 11 starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PHOENIX did not settle in the early stages of her last start, but stayed on to finish fourth over 2000m on this course. She will enjoy the return to the mile and must be included in all bets.

RACE 5

VIHZOE‘S MAGIC ran a fair race against stronger company over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The manner in which she has finished off her recent efforts suggests that she will be suited to the mile. From her good draw of three, she can notch up her sixth career victory.

HOLLY‘S VIEW finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them at the finish. Her wide draw of 12 is an obvious concern.

SARAJEVO was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this C&D. She returns from a well-deserved 11-week break. She is likely to be switched off near the rear of the field from her wide barrier position and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RACE 6

CRUISE CONTROL won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He showed good pace and kept finding to hold CLIFF TOP at bay. The son of Querari is in a very good space and will be hard to peg back with JP van der Merwe in the saddle.

PHEDRA ran a good race when second to Countdown in the Listed East Cape Sprint Cup last time. She has won three times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. She is likely to race on the speed and should give the males a run for their money.

CLIFF TOP finished 4.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around. He is at his best on the turf and cannot be ignored.

RACE 7

JAEGER MOON raced from a handy position over 2700m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Barak. He is likely to race on the speed and if seeing out the extra 100m on offer, he should go one better.

FLOWER OF SAIGON hails from the visiting Glen Kotzen stable. She has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. She has no stamina issues and is one of the leading contenders.

MAGNUM FIRE finished 0.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the wire.

RACE 8

This is a weak Merit Rated 68 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. SUGARBERRY is better than her last start in the Oaks Plate. She has won twice and finished third once from six starts on this course. She returns to Handicap Company and if finding the form of her penultimate run, she should notch up her third career victory.

MAIDEN‘S COVE has decent recent form lines to her credit. She raced wide around the turn over 1900m last time, but stayed on to finish third. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, she should pose a massive threat.

IZHIESTIA finished 0.15 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RACE 9

TRACK COMMANDER was running on when third over 1600m on this course. It must be noted that Brenden James has come out and won again since. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. He has cracked a better draw of seven today and in this line-up, he should return to winning ways.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN has decent recent form lines to his credit. It must be noted that Al Qaasim has come out and won again since. He takes a slight drop in class and is one of the leading contenders.

FLINDERS RANGE ran on well when winning his last start over this C&D. Rachel Venniker retains the ride and the pair will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RACE 10

ESTHER was ultra-impressive when winning at the second time of asking in a work riders event. She showed good speed and won with a ton in hand. The daughter of Querari takes a rise in class, but she has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

SILVERY BLUE has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. Muzi Yeni takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

GRUE OF ICE is having his first run for the Lunga Gila stable. She brings some decent KZN form lines with her. If not in need of this run, she can feature in this field
