Race 1 

MISS LIA produced a promising debut effort over 1200m at the Vaal. She moved up, challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Basked In Glory. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. The daughter of Talk Of The Town would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she is the horse to beat.

TOGETHER AGAIN has consistent form lines to her name. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

CRIMSON CLOUD finished 0.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 2

ZANTHAR showed signs of needing his comeback run against winners last time. His penultimate run when second behind Truth over this C&D, catches the eye. The son of New Predator would have come on from the run and back in Maiden Company, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

KOMATI RIVER is a filly taking on the males. She showed good speed over 1200m at the Vaal last time but found one too good in the form of Willy Meet Again. She is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.

CAT O’CLOCK finished 1.25 lengths behind the second choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

Race 3

JOOST DROOCHSLOOT was running on too late when second over 1450m on the Inside course, on debut. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and should love the rise to the mile. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

BAY EMPIRE was green when second on debut over 1160m on this course. The son of Fire Away is bred to enjoy the extra distance on offer. From pole position, he should make the natural progression.

PANNING GOLD was a beaten favourite in his last two starts over this C&D. With a bit of luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 4

LADY OF TIBET rallied late when second over this C&D last time. The daughter of Potala Palace is coming along the right way and from her good draw of two, she can go one better under Gavin Lerena.

SILVER PARASOL ran a decent race when third over this distance on the Inside course last time. She lost a length leaving the start but stayed on at the finish. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. If jumping on terms, she may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

PARTY PUNCH’S last three starts have been fair. She found one too good in the form of Hat’s Queen last time. From a good draw of four, she can earn another cheque for her patrons.

Race 5

DIMAKO’S JET has finished second in her last two starts. She was running on too late over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time. She has won once and finished third once from three starts on this course. She jumps from pole position and if not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should return to winning ways.

PRINCESS ILARIA is better than her last start. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be competitive.

SAFE SPACE was in need of his comeback run over this distance on the Inside course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He has cracked a good draw of two and should be hard to peg back.

Race 6

BAVARIAN BEAUTY was not disgraced when fifth in the Grade 1 Ridgemont Garden Province Stakes last time. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. She won her only attempt over this C&D. The daughter of Querari is the class horse in this race and she can notch up her fourth-career victory.

CELTIC RUMOURS finished 2.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

CAPTAIN PEG was running on when third over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. She is having her peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. She gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause.

Race 7

MIST IN SCOTLAND was an easy winner of her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. The daughter of Vercingetorix was a shock winner that day. The removal of the tongue-tie clearly did the trick and a repeat of that effort, should see her in the winner’s enclosure once again.

VIRGINIA BEACH finished 4.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result. She gets the blinkers fitted for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand.

LAW OF SUCCESS stayed on when third over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. Two of her four career victories have come on this course. She will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 8

MIDNIGHT FUSION’S last two starts have been fair. She was reported to be changing strides in running and still stayed on to finish fourth. The daughter of Rafeef has dropped to a competitive rating and she gets the services of 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause. She should give the males a run for their money.

PENDRAGON cost himself at the start last time and stayed on at the finish. Two of his three career victories have come over this distance. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and if jumping on terms, he should be the first male past the post.

MUNCHKIN is better than his last start over 1200m. He has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. On previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 9

PEACE OF MIND followed up her maiden win with a good victory over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. She showed good speed and lasted long enough. The daughter of Var is taking on stronger, but she looks to have ability and may be hard to peg back.

FENNEC FOX is a winner of her last two starts. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Philasande Mxoli retains the ride and she can notch up the hat-trick.

MICKE’S BOMB stayed on when third over 1200m at the Vaal last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. She is drawn awkwardly in barrier nine but Muzi Yeni knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle
