Race 1

RIPPLE EFFECT was not disgraced when third in her Grade 2 WSB SA Nursery last time. The daughter of Erupt raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. She is back against her own sex and in this field, she should take a power of beating.

ICE STAR was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m on the Inside course. She returns from an 11-week break which may have done her the world of good. She won a good race on debut over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and she is one of the leading contenders.

SI VELOCE showed very good improvement in her last start over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. She jumped outwards leaving the start, but finished her race off well. The daughter of Rafeef is progressive and should be involved.

Race 2

READY TO CHARGE was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over 1100m at the Vaal. He lost a length leaving the start, but showed good pace and won with a ton in hand. The son of Gimmethegreenlight found plenty of betting support that day which suggests that he was showing good work at home. He would have come on from the run and could be anything.

JERUSALEMA RAIN followed up his maiden win with a good second-place finish over this C&D in the Grade 2 WSB SA Nursery. He raced from a prominent position, but found one too good in the form of Lucky Lad. The son of Captain Of All has ability and should pose a massive threat.

SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT was an easy winner of his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace, found a good kick and drew off late. He is a progressive type and can follow up.

Race 3

MERIDIUS ran on powerfully when winning his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The son of Canford Cliffs meets a similar type of field this afternoon and can follow up.

RUNNING RIFLES got up where it matters most to win his stable debut over 1450m on the Vaal Classic course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He would have come on from the run and with another handy galloping mass of 53kgs, he should be competitive.

BRAVE VIKING was not disgraced when three lengths behind Shoemaker last time. He is having his peak run today and will be cherry-ripe. The son of William Longsword takes a rise in class, but he carries a light mass of 52kgs and should give a good account of himself.

Race 4

TURBO POWER produced a promising debut effort over 1160m on this course. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. The son of Twice Over would have come on from the run and will love the rise to 1400m. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and the pair should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

ROSSORE FINALE reared leaving the start on debut, understandably raced green but stayed on to finish third. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Ideal World would have come on from the run and is one of the leading contenders.

CAPTAIN WARA should have won his last start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 5

ANGEL OF WAR was super-impressive when winning his last start over 1600m on the Inside course. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He has won once and finished third three times from five starts on this course. The son of Act Of War jumps from pole position and with Marco van Rensburg retaining the ride, he can follow up.

VITELLIUS was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m on the Vaal Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. His best form has been over this C&D and he is one of the leading contenders.

CALL ME MASTER was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m on the Inside course. His two outings prior to that effort were good. He jumps from a good draw of two and must be included in all bets.

Race 6

ROLLWITHTHEPUNCHES ran a decent race when second in the Grade 2 Senor Santa Stakes last time. He showed good speed, but found one too good in the form of Princess Calla. The son of Act Of War has won three times and finished second twice from eight starts on this course. He always gives of his best and if not in need of the run, he should be the one to beat.

SHEELA ran a fair race in the Grade 1 Jonsson Workwear Computaform Sprint last time. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

MERCANTOUR got going too late when fifth in the Listed In Full Flight Handicap last time. Three of his five career victories have come on this course. The son of Var will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 7

CLIMATE CONTROL stayed on when fourth over 2000m on the Inside course last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from six starts on this course. The son of Ideal World takes a drop in class and will love the rise to 2400m. Craig Zackey takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

AFRAAD raced from a handy position over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Opera Glass. He won his penultimate start under Gavin Lerena. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE finished 0.75 lengths behind the second choice last time. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

Race 8

RED MAPLE was ultra-impressive when winning her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She has won twice and finished second once from four starts on this course. The daughter of Silvano looks to be above average and she can notch up the hat-trick.

TRUMP MY QUEEN has some decent recent form lines to her credit. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she hung in the closing stages. She carries another handy galloping mass of 51kgs and is one of the leading contenders.

OPERA GLASS took the lead at the 1600m mark last time and won with a ton in hand. Three of her eight career victories have come over this distance. If repeating that effort, she should have a say
