Race 1

SO SEDUCTIVE was not disgraced when finishing third in the Grade 2 WSB SA Fillies Nursery last time. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was encouraging. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1450m and she has plenty of scope. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

QUEEN OF CAMELOT ran on strongly when winning her last start over 1200m at the Vaal. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

WHITE PEARL produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D against males. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 2

CHILLI MOON got up where it matters most when winning on debut over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. The son of Erupt would have come on from the run and will love the rise to 1450m. He could be anything and with Craig Zackey in the saddle, he can remain unbeaten.

FIRE ‘N FLAMES is better than his last start in the Grade 2 WSB SA Nursery. His form prior to that outing was consistent. The son of Fire Away tries the 1450m for the first time and if seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should be hard to peg back.

DR FAUSTUS ran a good race when second over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Greyville last time. He raced from a handy position and rallied late. The son of Oratorio will love the rise to 1450m and he can go one better.

Race 3

GLITTERFOX is still a maiden after 25 starts, but has some good recent form lines to her credit. She showed good speed over this distance on the Vaal Classic course last time, but was outrun late by Chrome Tourmaline. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and if suited to this course, she can shed her maiden tag.

ZOOM LADY finished 2.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and she may have to settle for the same result.

SOMEDAY MAYBE received a bump leaving the start last time and never got into the race. She has finished second once and third once from three starts over this distance. She is carded to race on 18 May 2023 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 4

WAITFORGREENLIGHT showed very good improvement when second in her last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. She should have won that day as she hung in the closing stages. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight carries another handy galloping mass. She is a progressive type and can go one better.

QHAWE LAMI is better than his last start in the Grade 3 Protea Stakes. It must be noted that Lucky Lad has come out and won again since. His first three career outings were positive. He drops back to the 1000m and is one of the leading contenders.

JOKER MAN finished 2.95 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. The son of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.

Race 5

LAETITIA’S ANGEL is better than her last start over 1200m on the Vaal Classic course. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be hard to peg back.

SUCCESSFUL SECRET showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1100m on the Standside course. He showed good speed that day, but was outrun late by Black Egret. If this run has not come too soon, he should pose a massive threat.

PENDRAGON moved up well over this distance on the Standside course last time, but did not go on with the effort. He has won once and finished second twice from five starts over this C&D. If this run has not come too soon, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

THUNDERSTONE caught the eye when fourth in his comeback run over 1000m on the Vaal Classic course. He took time to unwind, but found a strong finish before having to ease in the latter stages. The son of Soft Falling Rain would have come on from the run and will strip much fitter. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

AUSSENKEHR is unbeaten from three starts for the Tony Peter stable. He showed good speed over 1160m last time and found more where it matters most. He jumps from pole position and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

COSMIC STAR was an easy winner of his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He takes a rise in class, but carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should be up to the task at hand.

Race 7

STRANGE MAGIC stayed on strongly when under 2 lengths behind the winner over 1400m on the Standside course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of Erupt won her only attempt over this C&D. She takes a drop-in class and with Keagan de Melo back in the saddle, she can return to winning ways.

ESCAPE ARTIST should have finished closer to the winner last time as she received a bump at the 250m mark. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SIMPLE SIMPLE is better than her last start in the Listed Syringa Handicap. She won a game race in her penultimate run over 1450m on this course. The daughter of Querari will be doing her best work at the finish.

Race 8

LUNAR BALLADE won a good race in her last start over this distance on the Standside course. She received a bump leaving the start, but the manner in which she finished off her race was eye-catching. The daughter of Querari meets similar company this afternoon and she can follow up.

DANCING ARABIAN was doing her best work late when third over 1400m on the Standside course last time. Three of her four career victories have come over this distance and she is one of the leading contenders.

LADY CALAVERA ran a decent race when fourth in her last start over 1500m at the Vaal. It must be noted that Midnight Crystal has come out and won again since. She jumps from a good draw of four and must be included in all bets.
