WINTER WARFARE stumbled leaving the start last time, but showed good speed and fought hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The son of Act Of War is a progressive type and he is one of the leading contenders.

ICED MARMALADE is an unraced daughter of Danon Platina from the Gavin Smith stable with Gareth Wright booked to ride. If not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

RACE 2

ONE GIANT LEAP showed very good improvement in her local debut over 1200m, last week Friday. The manner in which she finished off her race that day was eye-catching. The daughter of One World will love the rise to 1400m and if this outing has not come too soon, she should go one better.

BEZONDER is having her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. The daughter of Canford Cliffs steps up to 1400m and the blinkers will be fitted. If settled into her new surroundings, she should have improvement to come.

LAUGH TILL I CRY ran a fair race over this C&D last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight can earn another cheque for her patrons.

RACE 3

BOMBER GIRL should have finished closer to the winner in the Listed Lady’s Pendant. She has won twice and finished second three times from eight starts over this distance. She drops back in Class and with luck in running, she should be hard to peg back.

LOVEGRASS finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. Her last victory came under Richard Fourie and the combination merit healthy respect.

YOU WIN AGAIN finished 2.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.

RACE 4

ORIGINAL COPY won a good race on debut over 1000m on this course. The manner in which she quickened up and drew off in the closing stages was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Trippi takes on stronger, but she could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

MS PATTY showed good guts when winning her maiden over 1400m on this course. The daughter of Flower Alley drops back to 1200m and makes her Handicap debut. She is a filly with scope and should be up to the task at hand.

THING CALLED LOVE ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1000m on this course. She is back against her own sex and is a solid back-up for the Alan Greeff stable.

 

 

RACE 5

MUNCHKIN ran a good race when second in his stable debut over this C&D. He showed good pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Rafeef would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He takes a rise in class, but is in a good space and should be competitive.

EXECUTOR has consistent form lines to her credit. She has won once, finished second twice and third three times from as many starts over this distance. The 10-week break would have done her the world of good and if fit, she should go close.

KING’S RANSOM fought hard when touched off in his last start over 1400m on this course. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. Calvin Habib is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 6

ASINANTANGA found betting support when touched off in his stable debut over 1600m on this course. He was his own worst enemy that day as he over raced in the early stages and hung inwards in the final 250m. The son of Rafeef should be ideally suited to this distance and if Craig Zackey is able to switch him off early, he can go one better.

CHEERFUL CHARLIE B is better than his last start. His penultimate run when second over 1600m on this course was eye-catching. It is encouraging that Malesela Katjedi steps back into the saddle. The son of Lancaster Bomber is one of the leading contenders.

GRAND ALLEGRO is having his first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable. The son of Global View has scope and there should be good improvement to come.

RACE 7

JUAN CARLOS won a good race in his last start over 2000m on this course. He has won three times, finished second twice and third once from seven starts on this track. The son of Frankel meets a similar line-up this afternoon and if jumping on terms, he can notch up his seventh-career victory.

HEART STEALER was an easy winner over 2000m on this course last time. The son of Time Thief takes a rise in class, but he may be ahead of the handicapper in the Eastern Cape and should be up to the task at hand.

NOTHINGELSEMATTERS was running on when second over 2400m on this course last time. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from the widest draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

RACE 8

FIREALLEY has good consistent form lines to his credit. He finished 2.5 lengths behind BOURNEMOUTH last time. He is 7.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

ZATARA MAGIC finished 2.25 lengths behind BOURNEMOUTH last time. He is 5.5kgs better off at the weights today. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back.

BOURNEMOUTH was an easy winner of his last start in the Non-Black Type Lakeside Handicap. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Canford Cliffs is in a good space and from pole position, he can follow up
