Race 1 

DEVILISHLYGORGEOUS ran a fair race over 1600m at Turffontein last time. She set the pace before tiring late to finish third. The daughter of Danon Platina is having her peak run today and from pole position, she may be the one to side with.

LACEWING finished 3 lengths behind the top selection last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

UP THE ANTE finished 2 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms and she may battle to turn the form around.

Race 2

MISTER WILSON produced an encouraging debut effort over this distance at Turffontein. The son of Act Of War would have gained from the experience. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the one to beat.

SECRET WARRIOR ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. He raced from a prominent position and stayed on at the finish. He would have come on from the run and with the natural progression, he may be the one to fill the exacta spot.

NYAKA NYAKA was in need of his debut effort over this distance. It must be noted that Easy Tiger has come out and won again since. The son of Rabada would have come on from the outing and can show improvement.

Race 3

Five of the nine runners in this contest are unraced and the betting market will be the best guide with regards to their chances. VAMANOS is a daughter of Gimmethegreenlight from the Roy Magner stable with Gavin Lerena in the saddle. She is related to five-time winner Countdown. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note.

QUEEN’S PACT was in need of her debut effort against winners. The daughter of Act Of War would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the first raced runner past the post.

DONDOYAKI ran a fair race on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 4

IT’S PERSONAL should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung in the final 300m. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and will strip a much fitter horse. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

INSPECTOR JAMES returns from a 23-week break and gets the blinkers fitted for the first time. The son of What A Winter has scope and if not in need of the run, he should pose a threat.

RINGHO stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He is a battling maiden but his recent form has been fair, and he can earn another cheque.

 

 

Race 5

GREEN EXTREME has shown good improvement in each of her efforts to date. She was squeezed leaving the starting stalls last time, but the manner in which she ran on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is coming along the right way and if getting away to a clean start, she should go one better.

BILINGUAL finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

MISTY METAL ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. She was reported to be coughing that day. The daughter of Danon Platina would have come on from the run and should make the natural progression.

Race 6

FROZEN FANTASY ran on strongly when second over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. The daughter of Potala Palace is the best-weighted runner in this contest and she may be rewarded for consistency.

SALENIO PENINSULA is better than her last start in the Grade 2 Wilgerbosdrift Gauteng Fillies Guineas. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

HONG KONG was a tad disappointing in her post maiden effort over 1400m. The 10-week break would have done her the world of good. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and improvement is expected.

Race 7

TCHAIKOVSKY ran a good race when third over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course last time. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Gavin Lerena is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

KINSHIN SHA tried hard when third over 1200m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. There should not be much separating him and the top choice at the finish.

VAR PARK was given a perfect ride when winning his last start over this C&D. He received a seven-pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 8

SILENT TRIGGER’S last three starts under Malesela Katjedi have been good. He challenged strongly over 1800m on this course last time, but found one too good in the form of Flag Bearer. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his awkward draw of nine and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

GAMER has faced stronger company in his last two starts. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. Muzi Yeni retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.

PRETTY ANALIA is the stable companion of the top choice. She has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. She jumps from pole position and should give the males a run for their money.

Race 9

DYLAN’S CHAMP has good consistent form lines to his credit. He took the lead at the 500m mark last time before getting outrun late. It must be noted that Immediate Edge has come out and won again since. Andrew Fortune may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

SNOW MOON stayed on when fourth over 1600m at Turffontein last time. With a bit of luck from the widest draw, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

SOVEREIGN CROWN ran a fair race over 1600m at Turffontein last time. He finished third in his only attempt on this course. Gavin Lerena rides and the combination cannot be ignored
