Race 1
IN THE GREEN ZONE ran a good race when third against male company last time. She should have finished closer to the winner that day as she hung in the final 300m. The daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is back against her own sex and if keeping on a straight line, she should be the one to beat.
SCARLET MACAW has produced two good runs to date. The daughter of Horizon is a progressive type and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
FLEUR DE VILLE has shown improvement with the blinkers fitted. She finished 2.25 lengths behind the second choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
Race 2
FROM A DISTANCE showed good improvement when second in her last start over this C&D. The manner in which she ran on at the finish that day was encouraging. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and she can go one better.
BACK AT THE GEORGE finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result. The daughter of What A Winter may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
DOUBLE DASH produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. She lost a length leaving the start, raced green but stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run and she should make the natural improvement.
Race 3
MON PETIT CHERIE ran a fair race on debut over 1000m, against winners. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
MARITZBURG MEMORY showed some improvement in her last start over this C&D. She would have come on from the run should strip much fitter. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and may have more to come.
OCTOBER FEST is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable with Aldo Domeyer in the saddle. She is related to multiple winners including October Morn and Tempting Fate. If not in need of this outing, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timers.
Race 4
CLIFF SWALLOW has been costly to follow in his last two starts. He set the pace over 1400m last time and tired late. He has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
BECKY SHARP showed good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. The daughter of Rafeef is a progressive type and may have more to come.
JOUEUR DE FLUTE showed improvement in his last start over this C&D with the tongue-tie fitted. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may have more to come.
Race 5
ELLORIX has consistent form lines to her name. She raced from just off the pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish third. The daughter of Vercingetorix will love the rise to 1400m and she may be rewarded for consistency.
TICKING BOMB has taken on winners in her last two starts. Her form under Richard Fourie is decent. The daughter of Lancaster Bomber returns to Maiden Company and she is one of the leading contenders.
JET TO THE SUN showed good improvement in her last start over this distance. She raced from a handy position, moved up well before getting outrun late. With a bit of luck from her wide draw, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
SLURRICANE has very good consistent form lines to his name. He raced from a handy position over this C&D last time before getting outrun late. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. He does have a wide draw of 10 to overcome, but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
NIGHT BOMBER stayed on over 1200m last time but found one too good in the form of Oliver. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
TOUCHDOWN ran a good race when second in his comeback run over this C&D. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter. With luck in running, he should be right there at the finish.
Race 7
CALL TO UNITE’S last start in the Grade 3 Schweppes Politician Stakes must be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. His form prior to that outing was good and his penultimate run over 1800m, caught the eye. The 19-week break would have done him the world of good. He has cracked a good draw of three and if not in need of this outing, he can notch up his second-career victory.
KATSU found one too good in the form of Voorloopertjie last time. The son of Louis The King has consistent form lines to his name and he is one of the leading contenders.
CHEEKY LADDIE raced from a handy position over 1400m last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Aspect. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 8
TWO A PENNY has top consistent form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. Two of her three career victories have come under Richard Fourie and the combination merit healthy respect.
GIMME MORE TIME finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
GREEN MANDARIN is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1600m on this course. He takes a rise in class but is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
Race 9
ON BOARD showed good speed over 1100m last time before getting outrun late. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Vercingetorix takes a drop-in class and she may be hard to catch.
WHY NOT JACKIE lost a length leaving the start last time and was running on to finish second. If getting away to a clean start, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.
ROYAL LYTHAM finished 0.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
Race 10
RATTLESNAKE is a progressive type who won a good race when shedding his maiden tag over this C&D last time. He showed good speed that day and kept rolling all the way to the line. The son of Buffalo Bill Cody takes on stronger but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.
MAJOR APOLLO showed good speed when second in his last start over this C&D. Interestingly, the blinkers have been removed. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SHIFTING PATH showed good speed when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. He should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and must be included in all bets
