Race 1

CRIMSON CLOUD is the best bet on the programme. She showed massive improvement when fourth in her last start over 1160m at Turffontein. She showed pace but was outrun late. The daughter of Fire Away would have come on from the run and she should strip much fitter. She is a progressive type and in this field, she should be the one to beat.

KALIKAA has shown improvement in each of her outings to date. She finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

SHE’S A BOMBER is an unraced daughter of Lancaster Bomber from the Johan Janse van Vuuren stable with Gavin Lerena booked to ride. She is related to five -time winner Inauguration. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other first timer.

Race 2

SKITTLES SKIES ran an encouraging race on debut over this distance. He lost a length leaving the start, understandably raced green but stayed on to finish second. The son of Skitt Skizzle would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he may be the one to side with.

THE OCTAGON returns from a 24-week break, during which time he was gelded. His first two career outings were encouraging. If not in need of the run, he should have improvement to come.

BREGARDT has fair recent form lines to his name. Muzi Yeni is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

Race 3

SUPER AWESOME showed good signs of a form return in his last start over 1000m at Turffontein. He raced from just off the pace and rallied late to finish second. The son of Capetown Noir won his only attempt over this C&D. If confirming his recent improvement, he can go one better.

RAINBOW REWARD finished 4 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

KEY NEWS won a good race on debut over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. He showed good pace and kept finding all the way to the line. The son of Heavenly Blue takes on stronger but he could be anything and may be up to the task at hand.

Race 4

VIRGINIA BEACH finished 2.25 lengths behind EXCHANGE STUDENT last time. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She struck a bird at the 350m mark that day which didn’t help her chances. The daughter of Silvano will strip a much fitter horse and she may be the one to side with.

LAW OF SUCCESS finished 1.95 lengths behind EXCHANGE STUDENT in the race referred to above. She is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and should turn the form around.

EXCHANGE STUDENT was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts on this course. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.

Race 5

WAITFORGREENLIGHT followed up her maiden victory with a good third-place finish over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. It must be noted that Fennec Fox has come out and won again since. Apprentice Trent Mayhew steps back into the saddle and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.

MIDNIGHT FUSION finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may battle to turn the form around.

JASIRI is better than her last start over this distance on the Turffontein Inside course. She has dropped in the ratings and if putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 6

ANOTHER LEVEL has shown good signs of a form return in his last two starts. He stayed on when fourth over 1400m last time. The son of Twice Over won his only attempt on this course. He should have no issues with the rise to 1800m and can return to winning ways.

THE BRIEF was an easy winner of his last start over 2000m at Turffontein. He has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this distance. He does have a wide draw of 12 to overcome, but S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and he should give him all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

WHAFEEF should have finished closer to the winner last time as he clipped heels at the 700m mark. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. With luck in running, he should earn a cheque.

Race 7

ELEMBEE was running on when third over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from seven starts over this distance. She takes a slight drop in class and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

REGAL DAUGHTER stayed on when fourth over 1450m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has won once and finished second twice from four starts over this distance. She should strip much fitter and is one of the leading contenders.

DIMAKO’S JET was running on too late when second over 1800m on the Turffontein Inside course last time. She has plenty of scope and can go one better.

Race 8

VITELLIUS showed some signs of needing his last start over 1400m at Turffontein. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. With a bit of luck from his wide draw, he may be the one to cause the upset.

SOUTHERN BLAZE finished 1.2 lengths behind OPEN HIGHWAY last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip much fitter and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

OPEN HIGHWAY won a good race over 1400m at Turffontein last time. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. The son of Var will be doing his best work at the finish
