Saturday is Soweto derby day as Orlando Pirates take on Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership and it's the Bucs who will start as the bookmakers favourites.
Orlando Pirates
Pirates come into the game in second spot but 2 defeats in the last 4 league games have seen them slip 6 points behind Sundowns in the title race. Downs are not in action until Sunday and Pirates do have a game in hand, those aforementioned defeats (both 1-0 at home to Stellies and away to Cape Town City) are the only games they have failed to win in the league this season and their 9 victories have seen them score 22 goals in total.
Pirates also came through their CAF Champions League group unbeaten with 4 wins and 2 draws, they have also progressed in the Nedbank Cup recently and earlier in the season they won the MTN8.
Kaizer Chiefs
Chiefs are sixth, 6 points behind Pirates and they have played 3 games more. Consistency remains a problem, 3 wins and 2 defeats in the last 5 league games, they have scored 17 league goals in total and conceded 16 (Pirates have conceded just 5).
Chiefs also progressed in the Nedbank Cup, putting a minnow away 4-0 and that competition would appear to be the only remaining chance of silverware. They now take on the Bucs who beat them in both league matches last season, 3-2 and 1-0.
The Betting:
In the match result betting Pirates are 0.72/1 to win the game with the draw at 24/10 and Chiefs can be backed at around 39/10,

The Verdict:
They say form counts for little in derby matches but there is no doubt that Pirates are having by far the better season. I wouldn't discount Chiefs raising their game but I'm with Pirates to edge it by a single goal margin.
