Spain were the only nation to emerge from the group stage with a 100% record and they eventually made short work of Georgia in the Round of 16. Georgia took a shock lead but Nico Williams squared things up before half time and second half goals from Lamine Yamal, Fabián Ruiz and Mikel Oyarzabal saw them through with daylight.
In the group stage Spain finished 5 points clear of Italy, third placed Croatia qualified with just 2 points and Albania missed out. An early goal from Ferran Torres was enough to beat Albania (1-0) an own goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win against Italy they put an early marker down with a 3-0 win over Croatia thanks to first half goals from Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal.
Second half goals from Kai Havertz (penalty) and Jamal Musiala saw host nation Germany claim their quarter final spot in a 2-0 win over Denmark.
Germany topped their group ahead of Switzerland, unbeaten with 2 wins and 1 draw with Hungary third and Scotland were fourth. They began with a 5-1 demolition of 10 man Scotland with goals from Florian Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz (penalty), Niclas Fullkrug and Emre Can. Germany were 2-0 winners against Hungary courtesy of goals from Musiala and Gündoğan but in their final group match they needed an injury time equalizer from Niclas Fullkrug in the 1-1 draw with the Swiss.
The Verdict:
The last meeting between the teams came in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup and it finished 1-1. I can see this also being tight and whilst Spain have arguably been the most impressive side we have seen so far, Germany haven't done much wrong.
I fancy extra time.

Portugal 2.35/1 Draw 2.05/1 France 1.34/1
Portugal dominated much of their Round of 16 clash with Slovenia but they couldn't find a way through and after Ronaldo missed a penalty in extra time they outcome hinged on a shoot out. Portugal held their nerve and Ronaldo was one of three scorers from the spot whilst Diogo Costa saved three from the Slovenian's to put Portugal through.
Portugal topped Group F with 6 points ahead of Turkey on goal difference. Georgia were third and Czech Republic were eliminated. Portugal won their first 2 matches to seal a last 16 spot before they came unstuck against Georgia who beat them 2-0 in arguably the biggest shock of the tournament so far. They had eased into the last 16 with a dominant 3-0 win over Turkey (Bernardo Silva, an own goal and Bruno Fernandes). Substitute Francisco Conceicao scored Portugal's injury time winner in the 2-1 victory over Czech Republic first time out. They dominated the game but needed a freak own goal to level matters after the Czech's took a shock lead.
France edged their Round of 16 clash with Belgium with a 1-0 win thanks to a late own goal. They had created the better chances but it was a game low on thrills.
France finished as runners up to Austria in Group D. Their record comprised of 1 win and 2 draws and the Netherlands qualified in third and Poland went home. France came through their first group match with Austria with a 1-0 win courtesy of an own goal late in the first half and Mbappe suffered a broken nose. Mbappe was left on the bench for the 0-0 draw with the Netherlands in their second outing but returned for their final group match to give them the lead against Poland from the penalty spot but they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The Verdict:
I don't think we have seen the best of France as an attacking force but they have kept 3 clean sheets in 4. Portugal started well but the defeat to Georgia and stalemate with Slovenia poses questions.
I'm looking at game of 1 or 2 goals in total in regulation time regardless of who comes out on top.
