Race 1

RAFA BAY showed good improvement in his last start over this C&D. He cost himself winning that day as he hung outwards in the final 250m. The son of Rafeef is a progressive type and with luck from his awkward draw of nine, he can go one better.

FENCING CAPTAIN finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter.

MANEKI NEKO was a beaten odds-on favourite in his last start over 1200m at Fairview. He has been costly to follow but from pole position, he cannot be ignored.

Race 2

AMONG THE CLOUDS moved up like a winner in her last start over this distance, but was caught late by Green Isle. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If Grant van Niekerk is able to switch her off early, she should be the one to beat.

COULDITBE finished 0.75 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

LICKETY SPLIT finished 1.8 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 3

I’M SO PRITTI has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She challenged strongly over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Scarlet Macaw. The daughter of Vercingetorix is a progressive type and in this field, she should be the one to beat.

PINK MOON showed improvement when second with the cheekpieces fitted last time. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

UNITED WE STAND finished 0.75 lengths behind JET GREEN last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.

Race 4

WHITE SEAHORSE ran a fair race in his last start over 1400m on this course. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will love the rise to 1600m. The son of Pomodoro is a progressive type and with luck from his awkward draw of nine, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

JACK IN THE GREEN should have finished closer to the winner last time as he took an awkward stride at the 250m mark. He finished second in his only attempt over this distance. From pole position, he is one of the leading contenders.

WENTYTWENTYVISION set the pace over 1400m last time and tried hard all the way to the line. He has finished second once and third twice from as many starts on this course. The son of Royal Mo may be hard to peg back at the finish.

Race 5

MY ONLY WEAKNESS showed good improvement in her last start over this C&D. She raced from a handy position and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of One World is a progressive type and with just 54.5kgs on her back, she may be the one to side with.

POCKET DIAL ran an improved race when third over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. JP van der Merwe is likely to use her early gate speed to overcome the wide draw and she may be hard to peg back.

FAIRFIELD stayed on when second over 1400m last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If getting away to a clean start, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

Race 6

FUTURE TURN ran a good race when second over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. He finished 0.5 lengths behind FIBONACCI in his penultimate effort. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Two of his four career victories have come over this distance and he can return to winning ways.

FIBONACCI was doing his best work late when fourth over 1400m last time. Sean Veale is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

GREEN MANDARIN is a winner of his last three starts. He ran on powerfully over 1800m last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is carded to race on 17 August 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

Race 7

This is a weak Cape D Stakes field, tread carefully. The tentative first selection is LIKETHECLAPPERS from the Justin Snaith stable. He is better than his last two starts. He has won once and finished second once from three starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

NILE THE BOSS was disappointing in her last start over this C&D. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

BLACK PATH was well-beaten into ninth in her last start. Her form prior to that outing was fair. If putting her best foot forward, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 8

GREAT CAT ran on powerfully when winning her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. She has won once and finished second twice from as many starts on this course. She jumps from a good draw of two and if not in need of the run, she should follow up with another victory.

IN THE GREEN ZONE followed up her maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. She raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. Sean Veale is booked to ride and with luck from her awkward draw of eight, she should pose a threat.

CHARLENE ran a good race when third over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. She meets a similar line-up this afternoon and is a solid back-up for the Brett Crawford stable.

Race 9

WYLIE JACK stayed on when second over 1100m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. Both his career victories have come over this distance. If getting away to a clean start from barrier two, he is capable of winning a race of this nature.

LOVERS LANE finished 2.25 lengths behind Xplicit Content last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Gareth Wright may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

XPLICIT CONTENT showed good speed when winning his last start over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of four and can follow up with another victory
