RACE 1
MANEKI NEKO who hails from the Candice Bass-Robinson stable is the first choice. He was running on when fourth over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. Aldo Domeyer makes the trip to ride and in this field, he should shed his maiden tag.
MASTER FORESTER showed good improvement when third in his local debut over 1000m on the polytrack. He should have finished closer that day as he clipped heels at the 700m mark. He would have come on from the outing and should strip much fitter.
LENNOXTOWN finished 1.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms. He would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.
RACE 2
ENGLISH MISTRESS produced good form before given a 13-week break. She stayed on at the finish over 1400m last time, but found one too good in the form of Princess Of Bayou. The daughter of Master Of My Fate should have no issues with the drop to 1400m and she will be mowing down the frontrunners.
STRING OF LIGHTS showed pace over 1200m last time and stayed on to finish second. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. She will enjoy the rise to 1400m and is one of the leading contenders.
RAIN BIRD finished 2.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
RACE 3
POTENT CAPTAIN set the pace over this distance on the polytrack last time, but was touched off by Gold Gunner. The son of Captain Of All may be at his best on the Polytrack surface, but he is in a good space. Sean Veale may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
POMO’S BIG SPENDER has produced two fair fourth-place finishes to date. The son of Pomodoro will love the rise to the mile. He jumps from a handy draw of five and with Luyolo Mxothwa back in the saddle, he is one of the leading contenders.
UNION ROSE has fair form lines to his credit. He is having his first run for the Kelly Mitchley stable and steps up to the mile. S’manga Khumalo rides and there should be good improvement to come.
RACE 4
MY AMI BEACH ran on from far back when fifth over 1200m last time. She has won twice and finished third twice from nine starts over this C&D. Apprentice Nirvan Nastili takes the 4kgs off her back which will assist her cause. She drops in class and back against her own sex, she can return to winning ways.
JADE’S CABERNEIGH was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1000m on the Polytrack. She finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.
BREEDE BABY ran on powerfully when winning her local debut in a work riders contest. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She does take on stronger, but has scope and should be up to the task at hand.
Race 5
THE WINTER LAKE finished 0.75 lengths behind JEWEL CAT last time. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He will strip a much fitter horse today and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
JEWEL CAT is a winner of his last two starts, the latest of which was over 1000m on this course. He is in a good space and can notch up the hat-trick.
IROSHKA’S last start is best ignored as he had excuses. He returns from a 15-week break/suspension. If finding his previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 6
LUNA HALO is much better than her last start in the Listed East Cape Breeders Stakes. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. If putting her best foot forward, she should be the one to beat.
RAINBOW LORIKEET finished 0.1 lengths behind TIME FOR LOVE last time. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. If all went well with her travels, she should pose a massive threat.
TIME FOR LOVE may not have seen out the 1950m last time. She has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. Muzi Yeni rides and she should be hard to peg back.
RACE 7
SUGAR MOUNTAIN fought hard for his last victory in the Non-Black Type Winter Mile. The son of Silvano is the class horse in this contest and if all went well with his travels, he should follow up with another victory.
FAIRY KNIGHT was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1300m on the polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. He would have come on from the run and should pose a threat.
CHERRY ANO raced from a handy position over 1800m last time but found one too good in the form of Grazinginthegrass. He has won four times and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He jumps from a good draw of three and merits healthy respect.
RACE 8
SPIN DOCTOR ran a fair race when fifth against stronger company over 1800m on this course. He finished 0.5 lengths behind CENTRAL CITY, three runs ago. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. He returns to Handicap Company and may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
CENTRAL CITY is better than his last start as he was reported to be not striding out. He has finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. On best form shown, he should be involved at the finish.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME ran on from last over 1600m last time. He should love the rise to 2000m and if finding the form of his penultimate run, he should be competitive
