Croatia 23/10 Draw 2.34/1 Italy 1.35/1
Croatia are bottom of this group with just a single point against their name and they need a win here to stay in the tournament.
Last time out they played out a 2-2 draw with Albania, conceding early on but fighting back in the second half to take a 2-1 lead (Andrej Kramaric and an own goal) before Albania equalized deep into stoppage time. Croatia lost their opening game against Spain 3-0. All the goals came in the first half, Croatia also missed a couple of golden chances before the break but the game was gone by the time Bruno Petkovic missed a late penalty.
Italy are currently second in the group having won 1 and lost 1. In theory 4 points should see you through so they might well need something from this game but if they lose nd Albania were to spring a surprise win against Spain they will be going home.
Italy were decidedly second best in their 1-0 defeat to Spain last time out, regstering just a single attempt on target. In their first match Italy fell behind after just 17 seconds against Albania but Alessandro Bastoni and then Nicolo Barella had them 2-1 in front after just 17 minutes. At the stage it looked set for a goal fest but Italy failed to turn the bulk of possession into chances and there was no further scoring.
The Verdict:
Croatia have made things very difficult for themselves but they do boast an excellent recent record over the Italians with 3 wins and 5 draws in the last 8 head to heads. Both sides have looked below the level we saw at the last Euro's and 5 goals conceded by Croatia in 2 matches has to be a concern.
Unless there is a huge shock in the match below a point will do for Italy but they will be walking a tightrope if they lose. After much beard scraatching I'm with over 2.5 goals.
Bets: Total match goals over 2.5 at 9/10 with BetXchange
Albania 13/2 Draw 4/1 Spain 43/100
Albania are in the same boat as Croatia although their goal difference is superior.
Goals from Qazim Laci early in the first half and Klaus Gjasula on 95 minutes in the 2-2 draw with Croatia keeps their hopes alive although they will have to turn over one of the tournament favourites if they are to make it through. Albania were very much the underdogs for their opening match against defending champions Italy but they took the lead through Nedim Bajrami after just 23 seconds. That was as good as it got for Albania and Italy levelled things up on 11 minutes and took the lead with 16 minutes on the clock. There was no further scoring and Albania created little else in a 2-1 defeat.
Spain top the group with the maximum six points after winning both their matches with a clean sheet. That means their progress to the knockout rounds is assured although they may still need a point to rubber stamp top spot.
An own goal was enough to secure a 1-0 win against Italy last time out although Spain dominated the chances and it was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. Spain put an early marker down with a 3-0 win over Croatia in their first action of the tournament. First half goals from Alvaro Morata, Fabian Ruiz and Dani Carvajal. Croatia also had their chances and missed a penalty late on but Spain were value for a comfortable win.
The Verdict:
All the evidence so far suggests Spain are big runners to go deep and possibly even win the tournament. They may make a few changes here as a point will secure top spot but given Albania have to go for it they ought to have plenty of opportunities.
Spain have yet to concede and don't need to force the issue here but I'm in the over 2.5 goals camp again.
