RACE 1

STAGE PLAY ran a fair race behind Luna Halo in the Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery last time. She showed good pace in both her efforts and will enjoy the drop to 1000m. The Cliffie Miller stable is in fine form and back against Maiden Company, she may be the one to side with.

PARIS LASS has finished second in both her efforts to date. She showed good speed over this C&D last time, but found one too good in the form of Luna Halo who has come out and won again since. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

SAVIC is better than her last start over 1200m. Her two previous outings over this distance were encouraging. If all went well with her travels, she should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 2

WAR LAUNCH made the trip to the Western Cape last time. He was not disgraced when finishing fourth in the Non-Black Type BSA Sales Cup behind Outlaw King. The son of New Predator won a game race on debut over 1000m on this course. He looks to have ability and in this line-up, he should be the one to beat.

BRIDGERTON produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace and rallied late to finish third. The son of Visionaire would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should be competitive.

FAIRY KNIGHT found betting support when third on debut over 1000m on the polytrack. The manner in which he finished off his race suggests that he will love the extra furlong on offer. He tries the turf track and merits healthy respect.

RACE 3

KILMONIVAIG should have gone closer to winning her last start as she hung in the closing stages and was reported to be coughing post-race. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She drops to the 1000m and the cheekpieces should sharpen her up. The daughter of William Longsword should give the males a run for their money.

WOODLAND RIDGE had excuses in his local debut over 1200m on the polytrack. He will enjoy the return to turf and is one of the leading contenders.

SIBERIAN FOX raced from a handy position over 1200m on the polytrack last time, but found one too good in the form of Uncle Ticky Bird. He is suited to this distance and will be hard to peg back with Luyolo Mxothwa retaining the ride.

RACE 4

BELLE OF BELIZE stayed on when third over 1600m on this course last time. She finished 1.5 lengths behind PAM’S PRINCESS in her penultimate effort. She is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. Four of her six career victories have come over this distance. The 5yo mare will be mowing down the frontrunners.

TWICE TO HEAVEN was not disgraced when third against male company last time. It must be noted that Perfection has come out and won again since. She finished 0.25 lengths behind PAM’S PRINCESS in the race referred to above. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair.

PAM‘S PRINCESS finished 0.5 lengths behind ANCESTRAL PRAYER last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

RACE 5

BLONDE ACT is a winner of his last four starts, the latest of which was over this distance on the polytrack. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last outing has come out and won since. He continues to rise in the ratings, but may still be ahead of the handicapper in the Eastern Cape and can win again.

KEEP IT SECRET hails from the visiting Justin Snaith stable. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts on this course. He is having his peak run and should be cherry-ripe.

SLINGS AND ARROWS stayed on strongly when third over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He won his only attempt over this C&D and merits healthy respect.

RACE 6

SANTA THERESE stayed on when beaten under a length by Jacob’s Ladder last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She returns from a well-deserved 10-week break. The daughter of Flower Alley is unbeaten from two starts over this distance. She has a good chance of notching up her 12th career victory.

VERONICA MARS should have finished closer last time as she hung and had to be steadied at the 300m mark. She has finished second once and third once from as many starts on this course. If all went well with her travels, she should throw out a big challenge to the top choice.

IDEAL ANGEL is better than her last start. Her penultimate run when winning over this C&D catches the eye. If putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 7

SILVERLINKS ran a fair race in the Listed Schweppes Cape Oaks last time. She showed good guts when winning her penultimate effort over 1800m at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth. The daughter of Silvano will love the long Fairview run-in and she should notch up her fourth career victory.

LOVE IS A ROSE is better than her last start as she raced with her tongue over the bit. She finished 1.45 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

VIRGINIA SWEET challenged strongly in her last start, but found one too good in the form of Machete Man. She is in a good space and is back against her own sex. She runs well for Ashton Arries and cannot be ignored.

RACE 8

This is a competitive Classified Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PICTURE THE MOMENT from the Alan Greeff yard. He finished 0.15 lengths behind BETHEL in his last outing. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If jumping on terms, he should return to winning ways.

MODERN MAGICIAN finished 1.2 lengths behind BETHEL in the race referred to above. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

GREAT MELODY got up late when winning his last start over 1000m on this course. He received the minimum two-pound penalty for that victory. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the combination merit obvious inclusion
