RACE 1

ELUSIVE MATA produced a promising debut effort over 1200m on this course. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that the horse that finished third has come out and won since. The daughter of Elusive Fort would have gained from the experience and will love the extra 100m on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, she may be the one to side with.

GOLDEN PACIFIC has improved in her last two starts on this course. She got going late when second over this distance last time. The blinkers seem to have done the trick and should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

BUTTERFLY QUEEN showed very good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She ran on well at the finish that day and will love the rise to 1300m. She is progressive and should be involved in the fight to the finish.

RACE 2

PRINCIPESSA MIA is lightly raced with fair form lines to her credit. She raced from a handy position over 1200m last time, but was reported to be not striding out. The daughter of Pathfork should enjoy the step up to 1300m. In this field, she may be the one to beat.

HUNDREDFIFTHAVENUE finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.

IDABELLE is having her first run for the Gavin Smith stable. She brings some decent Gauteng form lines. The daughter of The United States tries the blinkers which should keep her mind on the task at hand. If suited to the polytrack, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 3

GOLD FOR AFRICA has improved since relocating to the Eastern Cape. She raced from a handy position over 2000m on this course last time and stayed on to finish third. Her penultimate run when second over this C&D catches the eye. Luyolo Mxothwa takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

TWICE A SAINT fought hard in his last start, but found one too good in the form of Maya’s Cat. The slight concern is that he is yet to place over this distance from three starts, but he is in a good space and cannot be ignored.

MASTER OF DEFENSE is having his first run for the Gavin Smith stable. His run on 11 May 2023 catches the eye. S’manga Khumalo does duty and if settled into his new surroundings, he can show good improvement.

RACE 4

QUESTION MASTER ran a fair race in his local debut over 1200m on the turf. The manner in which he stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging and he will enjoy the step up to 1900m. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Master Of My Fate would have come on from the run. S’manga Khumalo takes the ride and he can notch up his third career victory.

OPERA SWING is in very good form. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from eleven starts over this C&D. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

JASPERO took on stronger in his comeback run over 2200m on this course. He has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven starts over this C&D. He will strip much fitter and in weaker company, he should have a say.

RACE 5

This is a weak Merit Rated 65 Handicap for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is OPEN SECRET from the Alan Greeff stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She has not finished too far off the winner in her last three starts on this course. The manner in which she has finished off those races suggests that she will enjoy the rise to 1400m. If jumping on terms, she can win a race of this nature.

ERROLS LEGACY won a good race in her local debut over 1200m on the turf. She took the lead at the 400m mark that day and won easier than the official margin suggests. She does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

MEREDITH GREY showed some signs of needing her comeback run over 1600m on this course. She would have come on from the outing and should enjoy the drop to 1400m. With luck in running, she can feature.

Race 6

BONNAROO has good recent form lines to her credit. She finished 0.75 lengths behind CHERE FOR ME last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The daughter of Rafeef has cracked a good draw of four and she should notch up her fourth career victory.

CHERE FOR ME ran on well when winning her last start over 1200m on this course. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Coup De Grace is in a good space and can follow up.

FLAME FLOWER raced from a handy position over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. She takes a drop-in class and may be right there at the finish.

RACE 7

TEATRO finished 1.25 lengths behind TRANSACT last time. He is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He has won once, finished second once and third once from four starts on this course. He jumps from a mid-field draw of six and can return to winning ways.

TRANSACT won a good race in his stable debut over this distance on the turf. The manner in which he quickened up and drew off in the closing stages was encouraging. He meets a similar field this afternoon and merits healthy respect.

LIGHT THAT LOOSE stayed on when second over 1000m on this course last time. He has won twice and finished third once from seven starts over this distance. He will strip a much fitter horse and with luck in running, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 8

GREAT MELODY has good recent form lines to his credit. He showed good speed over 1000m on this course last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Warbonnet Creek. He is at his best over shorter, but always gives of his best and should be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

PICTURE THE MOMENT stayed on strongly when second over this distance on the turf last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

PASHTUNWALI did not get off to the best of starts last time, but finished his race off well. He has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The son of Rafeef will be mowing down the frontrunners
