Race 1

STEALTH ATTACK was disappointing in her last start over 1400m and is better than the effort suggests. She may be at her best without the blinkers fitted and the services of 1.5kgs claiming apprentice, Siphesihle Hlengwa will assist. The daughter of Wylie Hall meets the right field and she can shed her maiden tag.

COUNTY KILDARE has finished third in her last two starts over 1000m. She has finished second once and third three times from seven starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

TELIO has fair recent form lines to her name. The slight concern is that she may be at her best on the turf. Keagan de Melo steps back into the saddle and she cannot be ignored.

Race 2

SAFE SPACE was disappointing in his last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. His penultimate run when second over 1600m on the turf track was encouraging. The manner in which he finished off his race that day suggests that he will be suited to the 1900m. If taking to the polytrack, he has the ability to win a race of this nature.

THE GREEN GALLANT is still a maiden after 16 starts, but his last outing over 2400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville was encouraging. It must be noted that Johnny’s Hope has come out and won again since. He finished third in his only C&D attempt and must be included in all bets.

KODIAK ISLAND has improved in each of his outings to date. The son of Wings Of Desire will enjoy the step up to 1900m and he may have more to come.

Race 3

FIBONACCI is the best bet on the programme. He ran a good race when third over this distance on the turf last time. He raced from a handy position, but was outrun late. The son of William Longsword tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep his mind on the task at hand. In this type of field, he should take a power of beating.

REACH FORTHE STARS was disappointing in his last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He tries the Polytrack and on his previous form, he should be one of the leading contenders.

FLAMING DRUM is better than his last start as the jockey reported something to be amiss. His penultimate run when third over this distance on the turf was encouraging. Rachel Venniker takes the 1.5kgs off his back and he can earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 4

ALITTLEBITNAUGHTY showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this distance. The 5yo mare takes a drop-in class and should strip a much fitter horse. From her good draw of two, she can return to winning ways.

IDEAL GIFT ran a good race when third over this C&D last time. The daughter of Ideal World tries the blinkers for the first time which should keep her mind on the task at hand. She also takes a drop-in class and merits obvious inclusion.

HATTA won a game race in her last start over 1600m on this course. She has won once, finished second once and third four times from seven starts over this C&D. Her best form is under 1.5kgs claiming apprentice Siphesihle Hlengwa and the pair should be competitive.

Race 5

QUANABI was her own worst enemy over this distance at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time as she over raced in the early stages. However, she moved up well and fought hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Querari takes a drop-in class and if Keagan de Melo is able to switch her off early, she should be the horse to beat.

MISSION ROCKS was an easy winner of her last start over this C&D. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. Despite her big mass of 62kgs, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

BIRDWATCHER finished 2.7 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.

Race 6

This is a competitive Independent On Saturday Drill Hall Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is TRIP OF FORTUNE from the Candice Bass-Robinson yard. He was an impressive winner in the Grade 1 HF Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is unbeaten from four starts over this distance and can keep that record intact.

DESERT MIRACLE ran on from last when winning the Grade 1 HSH Princess Charlene Empress Club Stakes last time. She won her only attempt over this C&D. If jumping on terms from her good draw of three, she should give the males a run for their money.

AL MUTHANA was doing his best work late in the Listed Gordon’s Gin Jet Master Stakes last time. The multiple Grade 1 winner has bigger plans this season, but he has the class to be competitive.

Race 7

PRINCEKRESH finished 2.35 lengths behind CHARA SANDS last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. The son of What A Winter has dropped to a competitive rating. He is the stable elect with Athandiwe Mgudlwa in the saddle and can notch up his sixth career victory.

ADDIENA took on much stronger company in her last start on the turf. She has won four times and finished third once from six starts over this C&D. The daughter of Wylie Hall is drawn wide in barrier 11, but she is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy.

MUSIC IS LIFE finished 0.35 lengths behind CHARA SANDS in the race referred to above. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.

Race 8

GRANDE LUPO set the pace over this C&D last time and stayed on to finish third. It is encouraging that Keagan de Melo keeps faith in the ride and with a bit of luck from his awkward draw of eight, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

PHINDA MZALA was unlucky not to have won his last start as he received a bump at the 150m mark and he was unbalanced. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and with a bit of luck in running, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

SAIPAN stayed on when second over this C&D last time. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and Muzi Yeni may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most
