Race 1
FUTURE VARIETY produced a promising debut effort over 1000m on this course. He was slow into stride, understandably raced green but the manner in which he stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The son of Var would have gained from the experience and will love the extra furlong on offer. With the natural improvement that is expected, he should be the horse to beat.
MOJO MAN showed good speed over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Gallic Dream. He finished 0.5 lengths behind the top choice in his penultimate run. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line.
SNOW PILOT finished 0.5 lengths behind the second selection last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms and there should not be much between them at the finish.
Race 2
DISTANT WINTER has finished second in all three career outings to date. She stayed on at the finish in the Grade 3 City Of Cape Town Cape Of Good Hope Nursery last time, but found one too good in the form of Winter Cloud. The daughter of What A Winter is back in Maiden Company and she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
JET TO THE SUN should have finished closer to the winner on debut as she hung outwards in the closing stages. The daughter of What A Winter would have gained from the experience and she should make the natural progression.
QUICK TRIP finished 0.5 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.
Race 3
WILLIAM WEST’S last start can be ignored as he was reported to be not striding out. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. His debut effort when finishing second in the Non-Black Type Hollywoodbets Commonwealth Plate was encouraging. He takes on Maiden Company this afternoon and if not in need of the run, he should be the horse to beat.
CAPTAIN CASANOVA tired late when sixth in the Workriders Vs Jockeys Challenge last time. His penultimate effort when second over this C&D was eye-catching. The son of Captain Of All will be cherry-ripe and should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL was a tad disappointing in her last start over 1200m on this course. Her form prior to that outing was decent. If jumping on terms, she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 4
JURY DUTY ran on powerfully when winning her last start over this C&D. She has won three times, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this track and trip. The 5yo mare meets a similar line-up this afternoon and with Richard Fourie in the saddle, she can follow up.
CAMILLE CLAUDEL showed very good improvement in her last start over 1200m on this course. She stayed on at the finish, but found one too good in the form of Touch Of Grace. If confirming her recent improvement, she should be competitive.
SWIFT ACTION finished 1.05 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating them in the run down to the line. He is carded to race on 05 April 2023 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.
Race 5
SHE’S MY CAPTAIN showed good speed over this distance at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, tried hard but found one too good in the form of Hunting Trip. She has won once, finished second twice and third once from six starts over this C&D. Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and she is the horse to beat.
DIFFERENT FACE finished 0.7 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 3kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. She is having her peak run and will be cherry-ripe.
MISS MARGUERITE finished 0.4 lengths behind the top selection in the race referred to above. She is 3.5kgs worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around. She won her only attempt over this C&D and cannot be ignored.
Race 6
TRIVIAL MATTER has not finished too far off the winner in recent outings. He showed good pace last time, but was caught in the shadow of the post by Mufasa. He has won once, finished second twice and third three times from as many starts over this C&D. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
ROD THE MOD finished 1.55 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair in the run down to the line.
ELUSIVE TRADER finished 1.15 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. He is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and should finish closer as a result.
Race 7
PEUT ETRE MOI finished 0.3 lengths behind SUPREME DREAM last time. She is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will enjoy the return to Hollywoodbets Kenilworth and against similar company, she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
SUPREME DREAM was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 2000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville. She received a five-pound penalty for that victory. The daughter of Master Of My Fate has plenty of scope and she merits healthy respect.
SUMMER NIGHT CITY ran a fair race in her first run out of the maidens. She carries another handy galloping mass of 53kgs and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
Race 8
FLYING FIRST had to overcome the widest draw at Hollywoodbets Durbanville last time, raced wide and was reported to be cut into. It must be noted that Shantastic has come out and won again since. The daughter of Trippi won her maiden over this distance. She takes a drop-in class and from her handy draw of five, she should return to winning ways.
HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE followed up her maiden victory with a decent fourth-place finish over 1200m. The manner in which she finished off her race that day suggests that she will enjoy the step up to 1400m. Grant van Niekerk takes the ride and the combination will be competitive.
PHILOSOPHISE ran on strongly when winning her last start over 1600m on this course. She is better suited to further, but is in a good space and must be included in all bets.
Race 9
This is a competitive Class 5 Stakes field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is PAPER TRAIL from the Vaughan Marshall stable. His last two starts in Class 4 company have been fair. He continues to drop in the ratings and in this class, he may be the one to cause the upset.
RAISING QUINN ran a good race when third over 1600m on this course last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. She does have an awkward draw of nine to contend with, but gets the services of Aldo Domeyer who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
LIKETHECLAPPERS was in need of his first run for the Justin Snaith stable. He would have come on from the run and will enjoy the rise to 1400m. Richard Fourie takes the ride and he can show improvement
