Race 1

CALLMEWHENUNEEDME was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. She should have won that day as she hung in the latter stages. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will love the rise to 1200m and if keeping on a straight line, she should be the horse to beat.

FRANCINE produced a decent debut effort over 1160m at Turffontein. The manner in which she stayed on at the finish that day was encouraging. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She would have come on from the run and should make the natural improvement.

WORK OF TIME is an unraced daughter of Rafeef from the Brett Crawford stable with Kabelo Matsunyane in the saddle. She is related to seven-time winner William Robertson. If not too green, she should start her career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her and the other unraced entrants.

Race 2

JUST BE LEKKER was a shock winner on debut over 1160m at Turffontein. The manner in which she quickened up and drew off in the closing stages was eye-catching. The daughter of William Longsword could be anything and can remain unbeaten.

GEORGE HANDEL has produced three good runs to date. He challenged strongly when third in his last start over 1400m on this course. The son of Oratorio should have no issues with the drop back to 1200m and is one of the leading contenders.

POLICY OF TRUTH ran a decent race on debut over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. The son of Master Of My Fate would have gained from the experience and should make the natural progression.

Race 3

KING RAHUL showed good speed over this distance at Turffontein last time, challenged strongly but found one too good in the form of Brosnan. The son of Captain Of All is a progressive type and may be hard to peg back.

SUPER AWESOME finished 1.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.

VIVACIOUS VICKY finished 1.5 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may battle to turn the form around. Keagan de Melo retains the ride and the combination can run into the money.

Race 4

HOLOCENE set the pace over this distance at Turffontein last time, but was caught late by I’m A Man. The blinkers seem to have done the trick on the son of Heavenly Blue. Keagan de Melo takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.

MUTARAZI has shown improvement in each of his outings to date. It must be noted that the horse that finished third in his last start has come out and won since. The son of Querari will love the rise to the mile and he may have more to come.

UNCLE LUCKY‘S last two starts over this distance have been fair. He gets the services of Gavin Lerena and can earn another cheque for his patrons.

Race 5

This is a weak Maiden Plate for the girls and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is CANFORD ROSE from the Candice Dawson stable. She ran a fair race against male company in her last start over 1450m on the Classic course. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. The daughter of Canford Cliffs will love the rise to the mile and she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

COFFEE IN BRAZIL stayed on when fourth over this distance at Turffontein last time. Should the top choice fluff her lines, she may be the one to pick up the pieces.

VILLA SEMAYA received a bump leaving the start last time, but stayed on at the finish. Kabelo Matsunyane retains the ride and with a bit of luck in running, she can finish in the placings.

Race 6

SECOND BREATH challenged strongly against male company last time, but found one too good in the form of After Hours. She has won twice and finished second once from five starts over this C&D. The daughter of Twice Over is back against her own sex and she can notch up her third career victory.

SAMOA was given a peach of a ride when winning her last start over 1000m on this course. She finished 1.45 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

ON CUE stayed on when second over 1000m on this course last time. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. If repeating that effort, she should have a say.

Race 7

AUSSENKEHR has top recent form lines to his name. He showed good speed over 1200m on the Turffontein Inside course last time, but was outrun late. The son of Elusive Fort should have no issues racing on the straight course and he should be hard to catch.

I AM GIANT returns from a 24-week break, during which time he would have strengthened up. He won on debut over this C&D. If not in need of this outing, he should be involved in the fight to the finish.

ROCKETS RED GLARE ran on strongly when second over 1160m at Turffontein last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. If keeping on a straight line, she should give the males a run for their money.

Race 8

PONTIAC followed up his maiden victory with a good second-place finish over this C&D. He lost a length at the start, but the manner in which he finished off his race was eye-catching. Gavin Lerena steps back into the saddle and he is the horse to beat.

CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT‘S last two starts have been good. Three of his six career victories have come on this course. He is having his first run for Tony Peter and must be included in all bets.

STORMY SEAS rallied late when winning his last start over 1000m on the Classic course. He received a two-pound penalty for that victory. The 5yo gelding is in a good space and merits obvious inclusion.

Race 9

NOTHINGELSEMATTERS was touched off in his last start over 1800m on this course. He moved up like a winner, but was caught in the shadow of the post. The son of Elusive Fort takes a drop-in class and will be at peak fitness. If getting away to a clean start, he should be the horse to beat.

GREGOR MACGREGOR was an easy winner of his last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. The blinkers have done the trick and with a bit of luck in running, he can follow up.

WILLIAM IRON ARM won a good race at the second time of asking over 1600m at Turffontein. He raced from a handy position, moved up and held on where it matters most. The son of William Longsword takes on stronger, but he has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand
