RACE 1

MILLIONDOLLAR GIRL showed good improvement in her local debut over 1400m, on this course. She jumped awkwardly but stayed on at the business end. The daughter of Flower Alley meets the right field and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most.

VINTAGE CRYSTAL finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

RAIN BIRD finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice in the race referred to above. She is also 1kg worse off at the weights and may battle to turn the form around.

RACE 2

This is a weak Conditional Maiden field and caution is advised. The tentative first selection is RUN FOR ME from the Gavin Smith stable. He may have found the 1200m on the sharp side last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He finished second in his only attempt over this C&D. Luyolo Mxothwa is booked to ride and he may be the one to side with.

MAXIGIRL’S last two starts have been fair. The manner in which she finishes off her races suggests that she should love the rise to the mile. She carries a handy galloping mass of 54kgs and should give the males a run for their money.

PORTCULLIS ran a fair race in his last start over this distance on the turf. If suited to this surface and with luck in running, he can finish in the placings.

RACE 3

DANCE MO has shown improvement in her last two starts over 1900m, on this course. She was slow into stride last time and stayed on at the finish. The daughter of Royal Mo should love the rise to 2200m and with 48kgs on her back, she can shed her maiden tag.

WOLFRAM stayed on when fourth over 1900m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He finished third in his only C&D attempt and is one of the leading contenders.

PETTEIA’S last two starts have been fair. The son of Global View steps up to 2200m and he has cracked a good draw of three. If seeing out the extra distance on offer, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

RACE 4

ELLIS ISLAND is better than his last start over 2400m. His penultimate run when sixth against stronger company was encouraging. The 6yo gelding takes a drop in class. He is likely to race on the speed and may be hard to peg back. He is carded to race on 21 June 2024 and his progress in that race will need to be monitored.

GIVE US A SMILE’S last two starts have been fair. It must be noted that Alado’s Pride has come out and won again since. He should have no issues with the rise to 2200m and is one of the leading contenders.

REGAZZO GRANDE was an easy winner of his last start over 1900m on this course. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He takes on stronger, but may have gained in confidence and can follow up.

Race 5

STATE OF MIND was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. However, the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. She jumps from a good draw of four and if Luyolo Mxothwa is able to switch her off early, she can go one better.

ON THE GUEST LIST’S last start can be ignored as she was reported to be not striding out. She has finished second twice and third once from four starts over this distance. On best form shown, she should finish in the money.

SKY VELOCITY ran a fair race in her last start over 1600m on this course. She finished 0.1 lengths behind the top choice in her penultimate outing. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and there should not be much separating them at the finish.

Race 6

GODFATHER was doing his best work late when fourth over this C&D last time. The son of Coup De Grace is having his peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. He is likely to be settled near the rear of the field from his wide draw and will be mowing down the frontrunners.

WIND SOCK ran a fair race over 1400m on the turf last time. His penultimate run when second over this C&D was encouraging. With luck in running, he should pose a threat to the top choice.

MALDANO finished 0.25 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result. With luck in running, he can finish in the placings.

RACE 7

IRONTAIL’S last two starts have been good. He raced from a handy position over 1600m last time, fought hard but found one too good in the form of Launch Code. The 6yo gelding is in a good space and he has cracked a good draw of two. He may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

DUKE OF ORANGE finished 1 length behind ARTURO last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. If keeping on a straight line, he should be competitive.

CHARLIE MALONE finished 1 length behind ARTURO last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He finished third in his only attempt over this C&D and must be included in all bets.

RACE 8

PROJECT RUNWAY showed good speed when winning her maiden over 1000m on this course. The blinkers did the trick on the daughter of Lancaster Bomber. She does take on stronger, but has plenty of scope and should be up to the task at hand.

DAWN OF GOLD is the stable companion of the top choice. She raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and rallied late to finish second. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Nirvan Nastili which will assist her cause. She jumps from a gooddraw of four and merits healthy respect.

COLORAMA stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She has won once, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this C&D. She drops in class and must be included in all bets
