Race 1
AIR RAID was given a peach of a ride when winning on debut over 1200m, on this course. The well-bred son of Lancaster Bomber would have come on a lot from the run. He does take on stronger, but could be anything and may remain unbeaten.
FURIOUS QUEEN is better than her last start in the Grade 3 Winter Nursery. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She showed class when winning on debut and if finding the form of that run, she should be competitive.
WORLDLY ran on powerfully when winning his maiden over 1200m last time. The tongue-tie has done the trick on the son of One World. Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination merit healthy respect.
Race 2
MANEKI NEKO has finished second in his last two starts over this distance. He stayed on at the finish last time but found one too good in the form of Un Bel Di. The son of Danon Platina meets the right field this afternoon and he may be rewarded for consistency.
MASTER INCOLOR is an unraced son of Master Of My Fate from the Piet Steyn stable with Grant van Niekerk in the saddle. He is related to two-time winner Pocket Watch. If not too green, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.
ACROSS THE BOW showed improvement in his last start over 1100m, on this course. The ear muffs seem to have done the trick. If confirming his recent improvement, he can finish in the placings.
Race 3
WE HAVE TOUCHDOWN showed very good improvement when second in his last start over this C&D. He challenged strongly all the way to the line, but found one too good in the form of Air Raid. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is a progressive type and he can go one better under Richard Fourie.
CIRCUMBENDIBUS ran a fair race on debut over this C&D. He was awkwardly placed at the start, raced green but stayed on at the finish. The son of Vercingetorix would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement.
GREEN OKRA showed improvement when fourth over this C&D last time. He finished 2.15 lengths behind the second choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms and he may have to settle for the same result.
Race 4
APACHE CHIEF was running on when third over this C&D last time. He should have finished closer to the winner that day as he hung in the closing stages. Craig Zackey is booked to ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
GROOVEJET is lightly raced with decent form lines to his name. The manner in which he finishes off his races suggests that he should love the rise to the mile. He is having his peak run today and is one of the leading contenders.
GREENLAND has fair recent form lines to his name. He stayed on when fourth over this C&D last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight is having his peak run today and can earn another cheque for his patrons.
Race 5
MY BESTIE has shown good signs of a form return in his last two starts. He ran on from last when third over 1400m on this course last time. He has cracked a good draw of three and should be at peak fitness. If not too far out of his ground turning for home, he can notch up his fourth-career victory.
FAIRE ADVANTAGE has fair recent form lines to his name. It must be noted that Green Mandarin has come out and won again since. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
PRIME VENTURE’S last two starts have been fair. The son of Silvano has dropped to a competitive rating and with luck in running, he can finish in the placings.
Race 6
PRINCESS IZZY has consistent form lines to her name. She stayed on when fourth in the Listed Stormsvlei Stakes last time. The daughter of Master Of My Fate won her only attempt over this C&D. She is the class horse in this contest and can return to winning ways.
FUN ZONE finished 0.5 lengths behind SCHOOL POLICY last time. She is 4.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
SCHOOL POLICY is a winner of her last two starts over this C&D. The daughter of Querari received a six-pound penalty for her last victory. She is in a good space and merits healthy respect.
Race 7
ASPECT is a winner of his last four starts over this C&D. He set the pace last time and kept finding all the way to the line. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie steps back into the saddle and the combination should be hard to peg back.
FIBONACCI finished 0.9 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
CALLMEGETRIX stayed on when third over this C&D last time. She has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this C&D. The daughter of Vercingetorix is in a good space and should give the males a run for their money.
Race 8
WYLIE JACK has fair recent form lines to his name. It must be noted that the horse that finished second in his last outing has come out and won since. He finished 0.4 lengths behind SHIFTING PATH in his penultimate run. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. If getting away to a clean start, he should run a big race.
SHIFTING PATH has good recent form lines to his name. He was running on too late when second over 1000m last time. He finished second in his only C&D attem
t and is one of the leading contenders. MR FROSTIE is better than his last two starts. He returns from a 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. If not in need of this outing, he may be hard to peg back
