Race 1

AMANATTO produced a promising debut effort over this distance at the Vaal. She understandably raced green but the manner in which she stayed on at the finish was encouraging. The daughter of Danon Platina would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement that is expected, she should take a power of beating in this field.

LOCK AND KEY is an unraced daughter of Master Of My Fate from the Glen Kotzen stable with Richard Fourie in the saddle. She is related to three-time winner Mifid Two. If not too green in running, she should give a good account of herself. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to her chances.

MISS MUNROE was in need of her debut effort against winners. She would have come on from the run and in Maiden Company, she can improve to finish in the placings.

Race 2

MY BOY LOLLIPOP ran a fair race in his last start over this C&D. He raced from just off the pace and stayed on at the finish. The son of Soqrat produced a promising debut effort over this C&D. He meets the right field and unless one of the first timers have ability, he should find himself in the winner’s enclosure.

DEFINITELY YES is an unraced son of Vercingetorix from the Dean Kannemeyer stable with Craig Zackey in the saddle. He is related to seven-time winner Definitely Maybe. If not in need of this outing, he should start his career on a positive note. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to his chances.

WORLD PHARAOH was in need of his last start over this distance. It must be noted that The Specialist has come out and won again since. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. Improvement is expected from the son of Erupt.

Race 3

FACILE ran a decent race on debut over this C&D. She lost a length leaving the start but stayed on nicely at the finish. The daughter of Vercingetorix would have come on from the run and she should make the natural improvement. In this line-up, she should be the one to beat.

LITTLEBLACKGEM is better than her last start as she received a bump leaving the start. Her debut effort when second over 1000m was eye-catching. The daughter of New Predator should enjoy the rise to 1400m and she can find a form return.

BLOWIN IN THE WIND returns from a 12-week break and is having her first run for the Alyson Wright stable. She is lightly raced with decent form lines to her credit. She jumps from pole position and if not in need of this outing, she should give a good account of herself.

Race 4

SILENT TRIGGER’S last start must be ignored as he raced very wide around the turn. His effort when second over this C&D, three runs ago catches the eye. It is encouraging that S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and with luck in running, he may be the one to cause the upset.

BUZZ BOMB cost himself at the start last time. The son of Lancaster Bomber will love the rise to the mile and it is encouraging that Richard Fourie keeps faith in the ride. If jumping on terms, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

PONGOLA’S last three starts have been fair. Rachel Venniker is likely to switch him off near the rear of the field from the wide draw and the combination will be mowing down the frontrunners.

Race 5

ANCIENT WORLD was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1900m on the Polytrack. His form prior to that outing was consistent. He finished 0.9 lengths behind MASTER FUEGO four runs ago. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D and will be looking to keep that record intact.

MASTER FUEGO has good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on when third over 1600m on this course last time. If not in need of this outing, he should be one of the leading contenders.

LUCKY MISS was not disgraced when fifth in the Listed KRA East Coast Cup last time. Two of her five career victories have come on this course. She should give the males a run for their money.

Race 6

ESCAPOLOGIST was not disgraced when fifth against stronger company in her last start over 1750m on this course. The daughter of Linngari finished second in her only attempt over this C&D. She takes a drop in class and from pole position, she can notch up her fifth-career victory.

LIGHT OF DAY ran a fair race on the polytrack last time. Her three starts prior to that outing were good. S’manga Khumalo is booked to ride and with luck in running, she should pose a threat.

KIND JUDY finished 0.2 lengths behind PINSTRIPE last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. With luck in running, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.

Race 7

MAGIC TATTOO was unlucky not to have won his last start. He finished 0.4 lengths behind HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE that day. He is 4kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He will strip a much fitter horse and should go one better.

HITHEMHARDSUNSHINE took on much stronger in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint last time. He has won three times, finished second twice and third once from eight starts over this distance. On previous form, he should pose a threat.

PRAY FOR RAIN is better than his last start. Four of his five career victories have come over this distance. If putting his best foot forward, he should have a say.

Race 8

MAGGIE SMITH is better than her last start over 1200m. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. Her last victory came under Richard Fourie and she will be doing her best work at the finish.

HEREINAFTER is a winner of her last two starts. She meets a similar field this afternoon and can notch up the hat-trick.

JANE’S VISION finished 1.3 lengths behind the second choice last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. If confirming her recent improvement, she should pose a threat.

Race 9

INTREPID took on much stronger in his last start over 1000m on the polytrack. He won a good race in his penultimate run in this Class. He gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist his chances. If putting his best foot forward, he should be the one to beat.

PLETTENBERG finished 2.25 lengths behind the top choice last time. He is 4.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.

STANLEY PARK has fair consistent form lines to his name. He has won twice, finished second once and third twice from nine starts on this course. He takes a drop in class and cannot be ignored
