Race 1
LEAD THE CHARGE stayed on when fourth over 1450m last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. He has been gelded since that outing which may have done the trick. He will be mowing down the frontrunners and can shed his maiden tag.
PIBE DE ORO showed good speed when second over 1100m on the Standside course last time. He would have come on from the run and should strip much fitter. S’manga Khumalo retains the ride and the pair merit healthy respect.
TIGER STORM ran a fair race on debut over this distance at the Vaal. It must be noted that What A Lucy has come out and won again since. The son of Rafeef would have gained from the experience and he should make the natural improvement.
Race 2
SEVENTEEN AGAIN has produced two good second place finishes to date. She lost two lengths leaving the start last time and stayed on at the finish. Denis Schwarz is booked to ride and if getting away to a clean start, she can shed her maiden tag.
TOGETHER AGAIN has fair consistent form lines to her credit. She is carded to race on 20 June 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
GAELIC DANCER has fair form lines to her name. She is having her peak run today and should be cherry-ripe. She may enjoy racing around the turn and should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 3
INCREDIBLE INDRANI is better than her last start on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack. She finished 0.45 lengths behind GLOBAL REEF in her penultimate run. She is 0.5kgs better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish. She will enjoy the return to the turf and the blinkers may do the trick.
JAPANESE MAPLE took the lead at the 400m mark last time and fought hard all the way to the line. She should have no issues with the drop to 2000m and may be the one to fill the exacta spot.
GLOBAL REEF raced from a handy position over 1800m last time and tried hard all the way to the line. If seeing out the extra furlong on offer, she should be competitive.
Race 4
DAMOVA’S last three starts have been decent. She set the pace over 2000m last time and tired late to finish third. The daughter of Flower Alley has dropped to a competitive rating and she may be the one to side with.
PASCHALS SAMORE finished 2.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 0.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
ANNEWITHAN E has shown signs of a form return in her last two starts. She finished second in her only attempt over this distance. The daughter of William Longsword takes a drop in class and with a bit of luck from her wide draw, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
CIRCUS LIGHTS found betting support when winning his last start over 1450m on this course. Despite the jockey losing his crop, he kept finding all the way to the line. He finished third in his only attempt over this distance. The son of Duke Of Marmalade meets a similar field this afternoon and he can follow up.
SPARKLING JUBILEE finished 0.4 lengths behind the top choice last time. She has won once and finished third once from three starts over this distance. The daughter of Oratorio will be mowing down the frontrunners.
DARK TIDE was running on when third over 1000m on this course last time. He has won once, finished second once and third twice from seven starts over this distance. Raymond Danielson takes the ride and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
Race 6
TWO MILES WEST is better than his last start in the Non-Black Type Egoli Mile. He won his only attempt over this C&D. The son of Fire Away takes a drop in class and from his good draw of four, he may be the one to beat.
CAPTAIN OF GRIT has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He has won once, finished second four times and third twice from ten starts over this distance. Apprentice Nirvan Nastili is booked to ride and the 4kgs off his back should assist.
SAFE SPACE is the stable companion of the second choice. He is a much better horse with the blinkers fitted. He carries a handy galloping mass of 54.5kgs and cannot be ignored.
Race 7
SOUTHERN STYLE’S last three starts have been good. She stayed on nicely when fourth over this C&D last time. She gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew which will assist her cause. She meets the right field this afternoon and can return to winning ways.
CERULEAN DANCER finished 1 length behind the top choice last time. She is 4.5kgs worse off at the weights today and may have to settle for the same result.
GIMME THE FLAME was her own worst enemy last time as she over raced in the early stages. Both her career victories have come over this distance and she may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
Race 8
NAZARE ran a good race when third over 1400m on the Hollywoodbets Greyville polytrack last time. He won a good race in his penultimate start over this C&D. The son of What A Winter is in a good space and he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure.
AFTER HOURS was running on when third over 1450m last time. Piere Strydom retains the ride and if keeping on a straight line, he should pose a threat.
VAVA VEGAS won a good race in his last start over 1600m on the Classic course. He received a three- pound penalty for that victory. He is in a good space and with S’manga Khumalo in the saddle, he can show
