Hi Guys

Back on the forum after a few years hiatus. Have been watching The Handicap for a while again now and keen to become part of the GFTG community again. Hope to find, share and discuss a few winners with the GFTG community.

Racing at Fairview today 29/12/25 (Odds with WSB at time of writing.)

Race 1 - Looks a three way race between the first three in the betting. Grey Warrior (18/10) has improved and finished second in his last two starts, which were over 1600 and 2200, at todays track. While one can never ignore the Fourie/Greeff combo, Im not quite convinced by the form of both those races.

City of Port Louis (75/20) was backed and placed in both starts on the poly since relocating. He was running on in both runs and the step up in trip should suit. He will get it right soon.

Witching Hour (3/1) has run 5th in both her starts on the poly since relocating and holds City of Port Louis at the weights on their run behind Hollandia Bakkerij. She ran a credible 2nd a few months ago on the Turffontein Inside track over todays trip and must have big chance with just 54.5 kgs on her back.

Mont Tremblant and Pick A Pomodoro well held by Grey Warrior on their last run. 1900m might suit both better but not enough to turn the form around.

Swingers and Exactas Witching Hour x City of Port Louis (8x3)

Race 2 - Lana View
(13/10 win, 28/100 place) has earned in all of her starts and should crack her maiden soon. No real dangers today except for being drawn widest. Great place bet for multiples should she find one better again today.

Race 3 - Rockie Blue (7/10 win) came flying on debut and with natural improvement to come, should be the banker of the day.
Priceless Treasure (13/10 top 3, 3/4 top 4) has been in the money in all of her starts and is generously priced to place.
Dynasty's Last (15/10 top 3, 9/10 top 4) was not far behind Rockie Blue that day and with the services of Craig Zackey, rates a decent place bet today.
Engelandpark (18/10 top 3, 11/10 top 4) ran below expectation in the run behind Rockie Blue and Dynasty's Last and could be a nice horse for swingers.
Missouri Flame drops in distance, but not for me today.

Boxed Swingers Rockie Blue x Dynasty's Last x Priceless Treasure.

Will post should I find anything else.

Good punting.

Turffontein Standside Track 30/12/25 (All odds at WSB as at time of writing)

Race 1 - Turn It Up (13/20) finished well for 2nd behind the lightning fast Heath House on debut. 3rd and 4th placed that day has come out to win their next starts, so the formline is quite strong.

5th that day was Buffalo King Cody (6/1). He is worse off with Turn It Up at the weights, but can improve drastically as seen before with juveniles.

Theodore Rooseveld (16/1) is a full-brother to Icy Eleanor and Maggie Smith, who both went well on debut. He was supposed to run on Summer Cup day, but got scratched at the gates. The stable rates this horse. Watch the betting!

Gavin Lerena is booked to ride 2nd favorite, Catfish (5/2). Watch the betting on this half-brother to Lions Eye, Kelp Forest and grade 2 winner Cats Pajamas!

Spirit of Gabz (15/1) with the extra experience, can place.

Dads Dream (35/1) is another that can run into the quartet.

Best bet should be to watch the betting and take swingers and exactas with Turn It Up

Race 2 -
Princess of All (5/2) set the pace and tired late last time out over 1160m. She has good form over 1000m and had a saddle slip in her penultimate run. 3rd-run after a rest with Craig Zackey up. Big runner!

Duchess Zara (5/2) seemed to finish better than Elegant Edge (7/2) in their debut run behind Gaslight Dancer. Both can improve, preference for DZ.

Bell of Angelus (20/1) changed stables and has some useful earlier form. Quartet chance.

Foxy After Dark (33/10) is a half-brother to Plus Four, who won on Saturday. Watch the betting.

Race 3 - Taking A Risk (9/10) has good form and should take some beating here.

Rock Music (5/2) improved last run and should place.

Stoneywood (7/2), full-brother to Dyce, had no finish on debut.

Swingers and Exactas with Taking A Risk and Rock Music shouldn't miss but also won't pay much.

Race 4 - Delaware River (19/20) has been close up for a few starts now, consistent earner.

The Reason (15/10) steps up in trip and could give the favorite a run for her money.

Masters Rose (9/1) is another who steps up in trip. She hasn't shown much yet, but has run in two races with strong formlines. Seems to be stable elect when looking at riding arrangements. Could surprise.

Asminderod (9/1) is a half-sister to Atticus Finch. Watch the betting.

Suggested bet: Swingers (3) Delaware River x (9) The Reason x (8) Masters Rose. Exactas and Trifectas could be value should the favorite fluff her lines.

Race 5 - Trombolines (9/10)
went down to the well fancied Magic Carpet Ride on debut and should take a power of beating here.

Reeces Wish (14/10) was a beaten favorite over 1700m last time out. Back to 1400m against the boys here, she should complete the exacta.

Wide open for third and fourth.

Race 6 - Speedman, Parisian Walkway and Solar Sail for the Pick 6. Unbeaten Speedman (16/10) steps up in trip and could win again. Follow the betting.

Parisian Walkway (15/10) and Solar Sail (28/10) are both Grade placed and only half a length between them on their run behind Count Huhtikuu over todays distance on the inside track back in September. Both ran in the Summer Cup where Parisian Walkway was reported as not striding out and Solar Sail dropped his rider after a collision with On My Honour.

Race 7 - Nebraas (2/1) has found form of late and should hold United Council (14/10) on their run in the Java Stakes over C & D.

Navajo Nation (14/10) tries the trip for the first time. Poets Warrior (16/1) won both starts over 2400m but has lost form since running in the Cape Stayers.

Race 8 is very open with quite a few horses having their first runs out of the maidens.

Will post if I find something in the remaining races.

Good punting.

Didn't study in any detail but will throw in a few small bets on horses I've followed before though many drawn wide so will need some luck in running

R1 Sun In My Pocket 7/1, thought this would have got out the maidens a while ago, battling but not a strong field

R4 Banzai Pipeline 8/1, consistent veteran usually gives a good account

R6 Sanbeenee 25/1, poor last run from gate 12 and drawn 9/9 today but MR coming down since maiden win and could run into the money at big odds

R7 Mister Nibbles 7/1 Laff overdue a winner, decent appy takes 2.5kg off

C'mon the wide draws

Looking at Saturday's Turffontein card and loads of scratchings, a whopping 17 of which are down to "insufficient recovery time" from the horses last race. I assume it's down to trainers declaring horses for multiple races in case a meeting gets canned for rain, thunder, lightning on the Highveld but although a couple of races have full / fullish field in general it makes a lottery of the tote exotics and messy for those of us who like to study form lines. I think they need to look at this and find a solution.

I'm going to leave the horses today and rather play Kenilworth on Sunday.

Turffontein Race 5
Guerilla Warfare (33/10 with WSB) was heavily backed on Tuesday when finishing under a length behind Clever Trevor over 1400m. Steps up to 1600m today which I feel is his best trip. Favorite is the obvious danger but I think 33/10 is a good price.
