Race 1
LONG STREET raced from a handy position over 1400m last time and stayed on to finish second. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. The daughter of William Longsword meets the right field and with luck in running, she can shed her maiden tag.
WAY TO BURN showed some improvement in her last start over 1800m on the turf. She has cracked pole position which is a positive. If suited to the Polytrack, she should give her older rivals a run for their money.
ELUSIVE BELLE is better than her last start over 1200m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She finished third in her only attempt over this C&D. If putting her best foot forward, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 2
PORFIRIO rallied late when second over this C&D last time. He has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this C&D. The son of Soft Falling Rain takes a slight drop in class and he can go one better in this field.
BRAVE VOYAGER has fair recent form lines to his name. The 1000m may have been on the short side last time. He has finished second four times and third twice from eight starts over this C&D. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
KIMBALL O’HARA stayed on when sixth over 1400m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville last time. The 12-week break would have done him the world of good. He takes a drop in class and if fit, he should be competitive.
Race 3
GRANDI ORECCHIE showed signs of a form return in her last start over 1750m at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. She lost a length leaving the start and stayed on well at the finish. The daughter of Wylie Hall is unbeaten from two starts on this course and if getting away to a clean start, she should keep that record intact.
SPRING KISS finished 0.2 lengths behind IMPERIOUS DESTINY last time. She is 1.5kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned.
IMPERIOUS DESTINY may have cost herself at the start last time. She showed good pace and fought hard all the way to the line. The daughter of Visionaire is in a good space and if getting away to a clean start, she should go close.
Race 4
KING’S ISLAND won a good race in his last start over this C&D. He showed a good turn of foot and won with a ton in hand. He does take a slight rise in class but is in a good space and can follow up.
IMAGINABLE has good recent form lines to his credit. He was running on when second over 1400m last time. Both his career victories have come over this distance and he merits healthy respect.
PALERMO was an easy winner when shedding his maiden tag over 1700m last time. His penultimate run when second behind IMAGINABLE was good. He may be ahead of the handicapper and should be involved at the finish.
Race 5
BLAZING LIGHT is better than his last start. He gets a change of headgear which may do the trick. He has won twice, finished second once and third once from six starts over this C&D. The son of Rafeef is likely to race on the speed and if this run has not come too soon, he may be hard to peg back.
WAVE WARRIOR should have finished closer to the winner last time as he hung inwards in the closing stages. He should enjoy the rise in distance and Richard Fourie may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him where it matters most.
COLUMBIA ROAD stayed on when second over 2000m last time. She has won twice and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. She is in a good space and she should give the males a run for their money.
Race 6
ONE IRISH ROVER won a good race in his last start over this C&D. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. It is encouraging that Richard Fourie retains the ride and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
WINTER WAVES was given a peach of a ride when winning his last start over 1200m on this course. Two of his seven career victories have come over this C&D. He takes a drop in class and if this run has not come too soon, he should pose a threat.
PREEMPTIVE STRIKE fought hard for his last victory over 1200m on this course. He received a three-pound penalty for that victory. The 6yo gelding cannot be ignored.
Race 7
MISS PAGET got up where it matters most to win her last start over this C&D. Despite hanging inwards in the final 300m, she finished her race off strongly. She is having her peak run and should be cherry-ripe. From her good draw of three, she should be the horse to beat.
PERFECT TRUST is better than her last start over 1000m. She has finished second once and third twice from as many starts over this C&D. If this run has not come too soon, she should go close.
KINGSMEADS KRYSTL is better than her last start. She returns from an 11-week break which would have done her the world of good. She does have a wide draw to overcome but gets the services of Richard Fourie who will give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.
Race 8
SHANTA’S PRIDE has good consistent form lines to her credit. She should have finished closer to the winner last time as she was inconvenienced at the 100m mark. She has finished second three times from as many starts on this course. If not too far out of her ground turning for home, she should return to winning ways.
THERE SHE GOES finished 1.3 lengths behind the top choice last time. She is 1kg better off at the weights today and there should not be much separating the pair at the finish.
PELARGONIUM showed good speed when second over 1000m on this course last time. She is suited to this distance and may be hard to peg back from her good draw of two
