Just a few I will be following today at The Vaal. All prices with WSB at time of writing.

Race 1 - Chickasaw (8/1). Third run since relocating from Cape Town. Form is not the worst and could be a nice exacta with the favorite, Blood Of Eden (14/10). Drawn widest of all.

Hubertus Hunt (18/10) improved form last two runs, more of a place chance for me. Codeword (40/1 win, 5/1 top 3, 5/2 top 4) has his best form over this trip and could make the quartet pay. Outside place chance.

Race 2 - The Reason a short favorite at 11/10. Should hold Brigitte Anne (4/1) on their last meeting. Be My Fate (25/1) is a 4 year old half-sister to Vamanos and One Fell Swoop. No betting support for her currently, but will keep an eye on her. Lady Lancaster (30/1 win 9/2 top 3) outside place chance for swingers. Falcon Fly returns from a long rest, drawn wide around the bend on the Vaal Classic. Not for me.

Race 3 - Highwayman Harry (10/1) is one in my notebook. He made an encouraging debut behind Speedman, but was well beaten second time out in the very strong "Splittheeights" race. Not much between Go Johnny Go and Shoreybomba on their last meeting.

Errol Flynn (8/1) returns from gelding and gets the services of Keagan de Melo. Only runner for the Soma yard today, draw is a bit of a concern - Watch and follow the betting! Lancealot and Royale Jacket has consistent form and both drop in distance today. Might just need further.

Race 4 - Will take the favorite, War Talk on here with Special Al (5/1), who will now be ridden by Keagan de Melo. Special Al steps right up to 1800m here today in only his second start. Naretoi (33/10) also a big runner on form. He has missed a race or two due to the recent rains. Exacta Special Al x Naretoi.

Race 5
- Small field. Copper Eagle (9/5) is my best bet on the card. Good 5th in the Dingaans last time out, very well weighted today and should have no problem with the 1800.

Race 6 - Littlemissmillion (6/5) is another who is extremely well weighted and looks hard to beat. Her last run was a good 5th in a Grade 3. The form of that race is also solid. Accept Cookies (11/2), although drawn wide, should turn it around with Boom Boom. Bakwena (7/1) solid form but also not drawn well. Both AC and B for larger P6 perms should you be hoping for a result.

Race 7 - Sigrid Swing (7/2) steps back to 1600m where she has some very decent form. The one to beat for me. Scarlett Heart (13/2) also steps back in trip and rates a good place bet. Pretty Analia (7/2) always finds some form this time of the year and will include in the Pick 6 together with Opera Fan.

Race 8 - Princess Ilaria (33/10) is down in class today after a good 2nd last time out. Cape Saffron (7/2) is always in the money but out at the weights with Lady Blunt (33/10), who might need further nowadays and Vamanos (9/2) (Not for me today, formline of last run is poor - Larger P6 just for safety). Mountain High (17/2) for bigger Pick 6 perms.

Race 9 - Inspiration (15/4) could follow up on a easy maiden win. Never Never Land (14/5) drops back in trip and has found betting support, while Palace Revolt (15/4) is not without a chance here. Western Wishes won last time out, but the form of the race doesn't look too strong. Will include in P6 for safety. Princess Lola, more of a place chance to me, larger P6 perms.

PA: 4,8,9,10 x 1,14 x 7 x 3,9 x 2 x 3,4 x 2,3,7 = R96
P6: 1,14 x 7 x 3,4,9 x 2,3,7,8 x 3,4,6,7 x 2,3,4,7,11 = R480

Good punting.

Best efforts for Kings Plate Day on Saturday, although a well fancied runner of his is a scratching in the first race I think Oisin Murphy is worth following today.

Race 2, Always been a fan of Miss World, pretty consistent, 1000m might have been short last time, prefer today's 1200m trip and will also include Wild Applause with Murphy

Race 4, Will keep Murphy onside with Mia Moo for Tarry but will also go each way on Roccapina at a big price. Would have needed last run and doesn't appear to be stable elect but was very taken with this one early in its career and hopefully can get back to top form today

Race 5 Snaith with a really strong hand, Native Ruler and Okavango for swingers

Race 6 Double Grand Slam not really my sort of price but if I play a small jackpot will banker it.

Race 7 I Am Giant probably more places than wins given the Joburg horse looks hard to beat if it has traveled down well.

Race 8 Sail the Seas for places, came from the clouds last time, should be cherry ripe third run back. If pushed for a win bet would go 8 on 18 although would need a hell of a run after 189 days off.

Races 9 and 10 Snaith plenty of cards to play again, race 9 tricky but race 10 like Roland Garos as my first pick and including Powerandtheglory at a bigger price

Enjoy some great racing

Cheers Chris, top days racing ahead of us.

Just a few value chances for me today:

Race 1 - Catwalk King. Giving weight to the rest of the field, was fancied in both runs thus far. Will include the 4, Virginia Bluebell in wider quartets.

Race 2 - Agree with Chris, Miss World

Race 3 - Open race, Azzurri my selection here.

Race 4 - Mon Petit Cherie. Not disgraced against the boys last time out in the Green Point Stakes. Swingers with Mia Moo.

Race 5 - Zeitz to bounce back oday.

Rave 6 - Also not interested in Double Grand Slam's short price. Keukenhof and Reet Petite for swingers.

Race 7 - Wide open should Buffalo King Cody get beat. Tenango best of the locals. Constellation at good odds.

Race 8 - Jan van Goyen needs no introduction. I've always been a big Gladatorian fan and will have an e/w on him as well.

Race 9 - Master of Paris with only 50kg on his back.

Race 10  - Roland Garros and Beware to fight it out. Sunset Riot for trifectas and quartets.

Keagan de Melo double: Catwalk King x Zeitz @ 35/1

Enjoy!

Tough day at Kenilworth yesterday, judging by my picks, but nevertheless a great days racing!

Scottsville Today

Race 1 - Never easy with the juveniles. Ode To The Sea (5/2) seems to be stable elect when looking at riding arrangements. Smart Choice disappointed last time out when missing top 3. AMC Roy's Fantasy the e/w value at 5/1. No market movement yet for any of the first-timers.

Race 2 - Lady Godiva (33/10) holds Japura (28/10) on their run behind Master Magician. Rachel Venniker is in top form and takes the ride. Japura has the advantage of having had another run. Kiki U Beauty, half sister to Frere Jacques and Ringa Ringa Roses, is a well bred first-timer currently trading at 15/10.Another first-timer, Queraristinyferari from the Nathan Kotzen only shoulders 53.5kg and has found betting support from 25/1 into 14/1 currently.

Race 3 - Levitator (15/2) Beaten favorite last time out. Comes in with light weight today further assisted by the apprentice allowance. Good Omen (7/2) down in trip, shoulders 6.5 kgs more than Levitator. Camogie (5/1) found the quartet in his last run. Seems held by Good Omen on a line through Full Monty.  Light The Fire supported from 10/1 to 8/1. Two best runs have been over C&D, including a good third behind Gimme Rules. Might surprise.

Race 4 - Quite a few horses with form here. Coccolina (5/1) found support when finishing 3rd last time out. Both horses that finished in front of her that day has come out and won their next starts. Saudi Sweep (7/2) was also heavily supported in her last start, when finding one to good in Lilac in Winter. She has the form to win here. Peach Melba supported from 11/1 into 5/1 currently. She ran a 5 length 4th behind Tladi Mothwana (who received a MR of 90) on debut. Scarlet Starlet, an Erik The Red first timer, is another to have found betting support so far. 8/1 in to 4/1 . Stable comments seems positive. Belligerent (13/1) returns from a 107 day lay off. A short priced beaten favorite in her last before the layoff. Had easy maiden winner, Greatest Hit behind her that day. American Gem (13/1) outrun late in her last race and also not without a chance here, can make swingers pay. Load up for Pick 6.

Race 5 - A difficult open maiden. Past and Present (18/10) third on local debut when beaten by two unfancied horses. Black Patina (18/10) has been close up in her last few runs and today must be as good chance as it gets to win. Outside support from 40/1 in to 28/1 for first timer, AMC Voter.

Race 8 - Plaza Accord (7/2) seldomly runs a bad race and will take swingers with White Seahorse (9/1) who might bounce back to form today.

Lots of short-prices favorites at Turffontein today. Will watch and post should I find some value.
